- Eagle’s Nest Bus Departure Point - On the journey to the Obersalzberg bus terminal, there will be several picturesque stops. The private guide will provide insights into the historical locations from 1933 to 1945, including the Berghof grounds, bunker entrances, SS barracks, and more. A scale model at the bus terminal will further illustrate the mountain’s layout.
- The Eagle’s Nest - Accompanied by a private guide, visitors will explore the Eagle’s Nest. From the bus terminal, a specially equipped mountain bus will take guests on a thrilling ride up the 4-mile road with a 27% incline to a rocky plateau. From there, a 406ft (124 meter) long tunnel leads to the original WWII brass elevator, which ascends another 406ft through the Kehlstein mountain to the Eagle’s Nest. After the tour, there will be free time to enjoy the views or refreshments.
- Mozartblick - Experience stunning views over Lake Wolfgang and the town of St. Gilgen, featured in the opening scene of the Sound of Music.
- Marktplatz - In Hallstatt, the private guide will reveal the town’s hidden gems, including a prime photo spot, the Charnel House (Bone House), Hallstatt Museum, Hallstatt Waterfall “Waldbachstrub”, the Sky View Platform, and the local residential area.
Guests will have 2 hours to explore Hallstatt and its attractions, with the option to dine at one of the charming lakeside restaurants (lunch not included in the price).

Merge the two private tours we offer, The Eagle’s Nest and Hallstatt, into an unforgettable day trip and make the most of your vacation. Begin the day with a tour of the Bavarian Alps and delve into Adolf Hitler’s WWII hideouts, with a visit to the Nazi leader’s mountain-top haven, the Eagle’s Nest. Explore the establishment and its breathtaking panoramic view before descending to Obersalzberg, from where we head to Hallstatt. Travel alongside the jade-green Fuschlsee and pause at its castle; snap a photo from an excellent viewpoint above St Gilgen, the birthplace of Mozart’s mother. You’ll have a 2-hour window to discover Hallstatt, a place that offers the chance to visit all the secluded, yet beautiful spots, as well as the popular attractions; whilst soaking in 7000 years of history. On our return journey to Salzburg, we’ll briefly stop at the Gosausee, with the gleaming Dachstein glacier in the background.

Excellent Tour - We enjoyed the salt mines on our way to the Eagle’s Nest! It was all a wonderful experience and such a great day! We were able to bring a change of shoes and leave the others in the car.

Stunning views and rich history with a pro tour guide - Carlos was our unforgettable guide and mentor through the history and breathtaking views of Eagles Nest and Hallstatt. He knows the importance of timing--we were on the first bus to Eagles Nest, and didn't have to wait in line, which afforded us time to learn the history of the building and appreciate the magnicent views. Carlos gave us historical background about Berchtesgaden and its purpose--it was an area important in Nazi governmental affairs. While leaving Eagles Nest, Carlos discovered our daughters loved "The Sound of Music", so he took us to the hill where Julie Andrews sang the "Hills are Alive", and helped us film a tik tok to that song. We then went to Hallstatt, a gorgeous 16th century Alpine village nestled among mountains and on a large lake, where he showed us remnants of an ancient Roman salt mine and suggested we lunch at a charming restaurant on Lake Hallstatt. It was there that we gazed upon the beautiful alps jutting from the icy water of the lake. He is an excellent animal spotter too. We saw a stag, a fox, and a hawk swooping by us right below our van. This day was the most magical and enlightening of our 3 week European tour!

Phenomenal! Luciano was fantastic! - Worth every penny on private tour of Hallstatt, Eagle's Nest and so much more!
Hopefully you are lucky enough to get Luciano for the day!
He was early, made suggestion to go to Hallstatt first, as busses unload midday on this very quaint town embedded in a mountain down to the lake. We were wrapping up when the "herds" were filling the street!
Luciano had an incredible amount of knowledge and was extremely interactive, where it felt as if you were with family.
He knows everyone and we had "no wait" on getting tickets to Eagles Nest, first to board buses both ways, and was simply fantastic in every aspect!
Spend the extra dough to avoid big bus. Took short-cuts along the way, that saved us time and was able to add more to see that a bus couldn't.
Tipped him very well to show our appreciation. He showed up at our hotel to give us a ride to the train station the next day! Talk about going the extra mile!

Must Do Trip! - Our day with Carlos was one of our favorite days of the trip. He was informative, friendly and just a lot of fun to spend the day with. We had limited time in Salzburg and doing this combo trip allowed us to see everything we wanted to. Carlos was also able to drive us through other small towns and had a lot of Sound of Music knowledge as a bonus. I 100% recommend this tour and will be booking with him when I return.

Eagle Nest Tour & Hallstatt Private Tour - We had the most wonderful time visiting Eagles Nest. It’s truly worth visiting. We did a private guided tour with Carlos. He was absolutely fabulous!!!! He made our trip so much fun and shared lots of history about Eagles Nest and showed us bunkers on the way up and way back. We were also scheduled to visit Hallstatt but one of our family members didn’t feel well so we cut the trip short. Carlos went out his way and stopped a pharmacy to assist us with getting over the counter medicine He is fluent in 6 languages and just a great person and a terrific guide. Ask for him if possible. You will have a great time with him.

Great day out - Despite the bad weather, Luciano our guide and driver was superb. Made sure we were looked after, got us first in buses, first to the lifts etc. First class.
Great trip out to Hallstatt showing us all the top photo-op places. Parked right about the town rather than the 2km away the buses have to park.
Would recommend this trip to anyone that wants that personal first class service.

A Breath-Taking Day - Wonderful conversation and history discussion with Carlos.
The eagles nest was closed, which we were disappointed about, but the drive into the Alps and the lake district was amazing.

Amazing Day In Salzburg - I wish I could go e this 10 stars. This tour was everything we imagined plus more. Seeing the Eagle’s Nest has always been on my husband’s bucket list. This tour and Carlos exceeded all of our expectations. Carlos was full of knowledge and taught us so much history. He knew all of the tricks to avoid lines and took us to places we were surprised and thrilled to see. I cannot say enough good about this tour, Salzburg Private Tours, and Carlos.

Salzburg Private Tours and Carols Make the Experience! Worth Every Penny! - My parents (72 y.o) and myself (40 y.o) stopped over in Salzburg for a few days after several days of travel from France and Germany. With some forethought we had determined that we would likely be tired by this point in the trip and had considered that a private tour may be worth the money to tour the remaining areas of Bavaria and to see Eagles Nest, without the hassle of all of the unknowns associated with independent travel. Words cannot express how good this tour was. Carlos was our tour guide and he was FABULOUS. He arrived at our hotel prior to us meeting him in the lobby. He had a very clean, new and well equipped Mercedes van that we then loaded. He was extraordinarily knowledgeable about the history of Salzburg and Eagles Nest and worked with us to determine the itinerary specific to the interests and ability levels of our little group. Weather was up in the air during our tour, with clouds moving in and a chance of rain. We opted, based on his suggestions, to reorder the trip according to forecast to optimize chances of better views and less time in the rain. He predicted everything perfectly. We stood in no lines, he facilitated ticket purchases, and the timing was impeccable. Carols has profound knowledge of the Eagles Nest and history surrounding the multiple sights we were able to see and he was very assertive in getting us the best experience possible. Hands down I would recommend this private tour as it amplifies your experience and exposure to the history/facts of the surrounding areas and attractions while simultaneously reducing stress and fatigue that naturally arise when traveling in unknown regions where variables such as crowds, lines, weather and language barriers are at play. Salzburg private tours does not disappoint! Request Carlos -- he is fabulous!
