A thrilling experience to connect... -
A thrilling experience to connect with the relatively little-known Black experience in the Americas. It was exciting. There could be no better guide than tour guide Jorge Hage. Connecting with him on the first day and first night for the Pelourinho Tour by Night was a great adventure. He became more of a friend than a guide on an exciting night that took us on a whirlwind of adventure of Salvador by night. We participated in the mass celebrating Blessed Tuesday and from there explored all that the historic center of Pelourinho had to offer. By the time we landed in the Odoya restaurant for dinner, it was mission accomplished. Jorge gave us the insight and knowledge to later strike out on our own for further adventures in the week that proved culturally stimulating and exciting. It's easy to be intimidated by the crowd of strangers milling all over the historical district, but the presence of armed police all over provides that sense of security. At the end of the day, you find out everyone is just out for a night of fun in the wide open center.
