Salt Lake City –Jackson – Grand Teton National Park –Yellowstone National Park

Salt Lake City - Today, we will depart from Salt Lake City and travel to Jackson, Wyoming, a renowned cowboy town and vacation destination. Don’t miss the Elk Antler Arches Square in the center of Jackson and Grand Teton National Park! In the afternoon, we will head to Yellowstone, home to the world’s largest super volcano and over 10,000 geothermal features. Expect to see snow-covered mountains, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, canyons, meadows, herds of buffalo, elk, and the most incredible geothermal features in the world! We will visit the Grand Prismatic Spring, Old Faithful Geyser, West Thumb, and get up close with wildlife, spending the night in West Yellowstone.

Itinerary:

Salt Lake City → Jackson → Elk Antler Arches Park (60 mins) → Grand Teton National Park (60 mins) → Yellowstone National Park (3 hours) → West Yellowstone

Jackson Hole’s Elk Antler Arch - The park features four arches made from thousands of elk antlers, creating a unique and memorable experience.

Grand Teton - Located in the Rocky Mountains of Northwest Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park is known for its stunning mountain views and shimmering alpine lakes, as well as its abundant wildlife.

Yellowstone National Park - As the first national park in the United States, Yellowstone is a must-see. It offers spectacular scenic views year-round and opportunities to see migrating animals, including bears, wolves, moose, elk, and bison.

West Thumb Geyser Basin - Situated on the western edge of a large bay along Yellowstone Lake, this area is known as the West Thumb caldera, formed by a volcanic eruption 174,000 years ago. The caldera filled with water, creating the bay.

Old Faithful Geyser - Located in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park, Old Faithful is famous for its predictability, erupting approximately every 91 minutes.

Fountain Paint Pot - Named for the reds, yellows, and browns of the mud, the colors come from the oxidation states of the iron. The heat in the caldera forces pressurized water up through the ground, causing bubbling action that varies with the seasons.

Norris Geyser Basin - Named after an early Yellowstone Superintendent, this may be the hottest geyser basin in Yellowstone. The acidic environment creates a stark, barren landscape with colors from mineral oxides. Steamboat Geyser, the largest geyser in the world, is located here.

Artist Point - One of the most scenic areas in the Canyon Area of the Park, with sheer walls dropping 700 feet to the canyon floor. The canyon walls are predominantly yellow but also feature blue, red, orange, and brown colors that change with the light.

Yellowstone Geysers - Mud Volcano Area - The Mud Volcano blew itself apart in the early 20th century, but visitors can still see the impressive crater and other geothermal features like the Mud Cauldron, Black Dragon’s Caldron, and Dragon’s Mouth Spring.
