Stonehenge, the Ancient - Ancient and mystical, the museum helps to put the place in context. Although you can't get too close to the stones anymore, it is definitely worth circling the monument on the pathway strewn with volunteers to answer questions and inform. It is located just 9 miles from Salisbury, which is also worth a look. Took a bus/entrance ticket from downtown Salisbury.

Amazing Piece of History - Went to Stonehenge whilst on holiday in the area. What an amazing piece of history to visit. Definitely something to tick off the bucket list. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Still stunning even after many visits - We have visited the monument many times but not in the last few years. Access is now from and excellent visitor centre a short journey on foot or by bus from the monument. The displays explaining the history of the site are informative, high tech and very entertaining. The facilities are good. The reconstructed Neolithic structures are very good. We took the free shuttle bus to the monument - after many visits in the past your first view is very evocative - Wow!. The pathway round is well laid out. A must-see site in the area.

Treated by English Heritage - Good experience to see the stones which we walked to free of charge on the public footpath which was advised to us by a member of staff as we had a dog. On arrival at the stones, we were to stay on the outside of the fence, which was fine as you could see the stones well anyway. However the segregation of paying and not paying was obvious to the extent that If you paid for a ticket there were water bowls for dogs but if you didn't there weren't and also the ice cream van was open on both sides with 2 members of staff but their priority was obviously the ticket holders and ourside were told we had to wait. I appreciate this but when you are told in the visitor centre not to buy a ticket as you can't go everywhere with a dog to then be treated as them and us is not good it puts a dampner on your day 😒

You have to do it - but it will be kind of boring and very busy - It's one of those things you have to do if you're in the area, but it's not something I'd go out of my way for. The stones themselves are very beautiful and mysterious, but I wish I'd booked the special tour to get up close to the stones and before the crowds. The place is BUSY. You will have a hard time finding a good place to get photos of you in front of the stones without strangers in the frame. I think they'd make good money if they offered professional, designated photos so families could get their desired photo with no interference - just my opinion. The stones are a 30-min walk from the entrance area... so either be prepared or take the free shuttles. I'd recommend the free shuttles. The stones are not worth two 30-min walks, especially if the weather is poor. My biggest tip is to get there early. We arrived by 10AM, and there were lines, but they were minimal and quick. By the time we left around noon, the lines were insane. Even if you pre-purchase, you have to wait in line. The only area without a line was the members entrance.

Overpriced - Over priced just to see a few items in the museum . Didn't realise you can still see the stones from another path which is only about 8ft from the path you pay £28 per person for bit of a scam

The large display stone is fibre glass - Today i went ,and was told at the gate the parking machines don't work so pay cash £5 to a man in a high vis with no identity of who he was.not even allowed to use contactless had to be cash ! Signage was very poor and did not show the way you could go if you want to see the stones free. No bins in the 2km walk to the stones so dog poo bags can be seen hanging from fencing. It was a good day out for walking the dogs and seeing a bit of history,avoid the overpriced admission and take the free tour .

You can drive up quite close without paying. I’d do that if I was to go again. - Expected there to be more to the tour when I paid extra for the stone circle access tour. Our guide was lovely & informative, but the tour itself wasn’t much at all for £194. I would have expected a bit more to it than just a drive up to and walk around the stones. No tour of the huts beside the shop, nothing. And to add, the gift shop was closed also.
