Great value for a day of history and interest - Lovely, welcoming staff everywhere. Fab castle with lots to see. The WW2 tunnels were very interesting and incredible history to be where the evacuation of the soldiers at Dunkirk was planned. Amazing to see the oldest lighthouse in Great Britain and almost in the world. Excellent food at every cafe (especially NAAFI and an excellent flat white at the Walls cafe. We expected to be there a couple of hours but stayed over 6!

Best castle ever - This is a brilliant castle to visit with so much to do thoroughly recommend joining English heritage as in long run will save you stacks of money even just in Kent as there are so many places to visit we spent more than five hours there

A beautiful castle - Dover Castle is an impressive and beautiful castle, It's decorated inside to make you feel and see how the castle used to look back in the day. It's also, at least from what I saw, almost perfectly intact which is rare, most are left as mediocre ruins.

Walls impressive - Still coming out of COVID so tunnels not open. Staff not very friendly and did not tell us anything. Walls look good from the outside and a walk goes around them.

Not worth it - Reasonably enjoyable afternoon but there are hardly any references or written information available to visitors, unless you take the guided tour you are more or less left to your own devices and no-one to ask for information. Could be much better if they provided some means of accessing information regarding the castle, just informative posts about the place would be better than this. Also, it is prohibitively expensive for a family at £20.00 each.

Disappointing. Lovely castle though. - Lovely castle but the war rooms were disappointing. I came about 15 years ago and they hadn't opened everything but there was more to see weirdly. Also there is supposed to be a bus for disabled visitors but it wasn't working. So a tiring day out for my fiance unfortunately.

Beware Queues - Maybe unique juxtaposition of WW2 and Medieval histories. Worth a visit, but only 3* because of horrendous queues for tunnels, We arrived at 10.15 on 'Easter Tuesday ' which admittedly was also school holidays. By then the queue was 1h30m but 'had to be done' Nothing to keep your interest whilst waiting, neither from staff nor info panels, no shelter either. This could be massively improved with a bit of effort. Best tip at busy times is to arrive 10m before car park opens (09.50) and head straight to WW2 Operation Dynamo tunnels to enjoy a much more relaxed day. Very hilly and of course lots of steps up to top of tower (great views). Again, not much info in the tower but the adjacent 'intro' exhibition was good.

Really rude and impolite - Very rude staff with absolutly no respect. The castle was great but the staff threatening us ruined our experience.

Asians beware - Asians beware. The tour guides are racist and WILL discriminate against you. I don’t need their passive aggressive attitude while I’m on holiday. Ruined my entire trip.

Disabled? Don't Bother with Dover Castle - Very disappointed, there appeared to be little provision for disabled people. In spite of much of the castle being difficult or impossible to access for those with mobility issues, there is no ticket concession - the full adult price (£23.60 - not cheap) has to be paid. The parking directions given at the first ticket office were totally inadequate and so we ended up parking in an ordinary car park with no disabled bays which, if reasonably full, would not allow for the car doors to be opened wide enough for disabled passengers to get out. All the car parks were linked by stairs and the one adjacent to the main ticket office was full. The designated disabled parking area was found by chance but a third of the space was taken up by marquees and there was no available parking space. Of the 21 cars counted only 2 displayed blue badges! Also, there were no parking bays marked, which led to the same problem identified for the other car parksi.e., if a disabled person wanted to get out of a car directly into a wheelchair - no chance! On finally getting to the main ticket office, there was one mobile scooter available which wasn't working - it wouldn't hold its charge. A wheelchair was found, but of very little use; the designated disabled friendly circular route would have been impossible as it would have required pushing the wheelchair back up fairly steep slopes. We never found out how impossible though as the wheelchair would have given an uncontrolable supermarket trolley a run for its money. When we finally gave up and handed the wheelchair back to a member of staff, the comment "Oh, has it jammed again?" was made. Hence, the only two disability aids available were not fit for purpose. An hour after arriving, we gave up and left.
