Mid, definitely could be better. - The only reason I’m even giving 3 stars is because our tour guide, Derrick, was exceptionally nice and knowledgeable and provided great insight. However, the booking process was a bit confusing. We had to call to confirm our reservation after booking, but we couldn’t get ahold of anyone since we booked after hours. Our tour was booked on the 5th, I finally received a confirmation on the 6th. We still went on the tour and didn’t run into any issues finding the meetup spot. However, finding our tour guide was a bit difficult. Other groups had signs or a light, certain markers to let you know you’re on the correct tour and we just had to ask around to find our guide. I think a sign would’ve been extremely helpful. While the guide was great, we felt that one hour wasn't enough time to cover all the stops thoroughly. It seemed a bit rushed, likely due to another tour scheduled right after ours. I read reviews before hand, and it makes sense why the guide would be late for some groups. We couldn’t get through everything because of this time constraint. Additionally, our group was large and there weren't enough EMF readers for everyone, which is a huge reason why we chose this tour in the first place. Due to the size of our group, it was often hard to hear our guide. If you were in the back you couldn’t hear him at all. I do not blame the participants who left midway through. My family was also considering it. With a few extra minutes per stop and more equipment, this tour could be much more enjoyable for everyone. Overall, the guide’s knowledge and friendliness stood out. We enjoyed the tour a lot more after half the group left. Everyone should be able to enjoy it though, they paid for this experience.

Just okay… - The guide showed up late. Long winded. Mildly entertaining. Nothing authentic. I would hope that there are better tours.

Don’t chose for the ghost hunting equipment - We chose this tour because my daughter was super excited about using the ghost hunting gear as advertised. However, when the guide arrived he didn’t have enough of the equipment for everyone and my daughter didn’t get one (neither did I). She was very disappointed. It kind of ruined the whole experience for both of us.

Ugh - Could not hear what he was saying. Group was too big. The tour leader pretty much took off with the first half and left the second half of the group lost. He skipped things that were supposed to be covered and we were showed very little. At times he seemed uncertain of what he was talking about.

Not many ghost stories, not worth it - Derrick was our tour guide and I’m not sure if he’s new to being a tour guide but his voice was quiet even with the mega phone he was using (the group was very large, at least 50). He seemed to know his history but would kinda drag it out a bit, and they were stories we heard before. We just expected it to be more in-depth on the “ghost” factor. The tour seemed rushed because we started around 9:10 and had to be back at 10, we saw about 3 spots, but we some spots were quick stops due to it being busy (I’m aware that’s not his fault), but it just felt like we didn’t see much. It seemed many people just left after the 2nd stop due to lack of hearing the guide. We felt bad for him because we weren’t sure if it was the company booking these giant groups or not but this was not a good look. Overbooking tours takes away from the intimate experience, especially for a ghost tour. I don’t think this should be advertised as a “ghost tour” if we were all in well lit spots just learning history.

Waste of time and money - This tour was awful. We booked the one-hour tour with four stops, plus the "ghost-hunting equipment." My kids were excited for the spooky evening tour and the ghost-hunting. The tour was supposed to be from 7-8pm. The guide was 15 minutes late so it didn't start until 7:15pm. Upon handing out the ghost-hunting equipment it was determined that many of them had dead batteries, so several people did not get to use one (it was one per party so several parties did not get one due to the dead batteries). We went to two of the stops and then the guide ended the tour at 8pm, skipping both the cemetery and the Town Hall. You would have thought that after arriving 15 minutes late he would still do a one-hour tour. Also, his stories were very convoluted and confusing, they were not interesting or engaging. All in all it was a complete waste of time and money. We tried to reach out to the tour operator several times, with no response, and then reached out to Viator whose response was basically "too bad." Would have preferred to give them a chance to resolve this before writing a review, but they didn't seem to care.

Boo for the Old Salem Ghost Tour - The tour was extremely disappointing. There were at least 60 people on the tour even though the company was supposed to only sell 40 tickets. The guide used a megaphone and pointed it to the ground therefore you could not hear what he was saying. One of the selling points for the tour was the "Ghost Hunting Gear." The guide only had a few to give out. No one in our group received one. Advertising as "Best walking tour for 2022" was very miss leading.

Would not recommend - Too many people!! At least 80-100. Megaphone not loud enough, too many other tours going on at the same time!! Only 5-10 EMF readers for the entire group. Would not recommend.
