Best telling of the pirate story I've seen anywhere. - Or 9-year-old was fascinated and went from display to display on his own. I don't think he skipped a thing. It was a great break from organized tours. He got to go at his own pace. I learned things I didn't know and appreciated how professional designed all of the information and activities were. I would put this as the highlight of our full day in Salem.

Salem's most enjoyable and important museum! - This museum alone would justify adding Salem to your itinerary. It's prepared to a very high standard indeed, and is much more than the retelling of a particular pirate's story but also a compelling tale of a modern treasure hunt with underlying narratives on slavery, social justice and economic history. Yet somehow these threads are pulled together into a child-friendly and enjoyable fabric. First rate, shiver-me-timbers!

100% must visit when in Salem - Go, it's a no brainer!! Must visit when in Salem. Don't confuse it with the other pirate museum in Salem, this one is much better. This exhibition is a real treasure and we learned so much about the history of pirates, truly eye opening. The history is incredible, the set up is top notch, the items displayed are unique, and the gift store is awesome. Salem is so much more than the witch trials, this was a very important port for the development of the colonies, a truly global maritime commerce hub, and was later crucial for the independence of the USA. I went with my wife and 7 year old daughter, we all loved it.

Highlight of Witch City - Highlight of our trip to Witch City, this museum is must see. It is second only to the Pirate Museum in St Augustine, this is a fantastic and well spent 60-90 minutes. As further praise my 14 year old who lives on TikTok enjoyed the museum so that in and of itself says it all.

Fantastic time - We had a fantastic time! The museum was very interesting but the museum guides were fantastic! We weren't planning on doing any pirate things when we planned our Salem trip, but I'm glad we stopped by here.

Real Pirates Salem Myseum is a Real Must See! - Upon entering the museum, it looked like many others; a short wait until taken into a room for an introductory video. The screen for the video was large but too high to comfortably view from the benches provided. After the video the doors to the museum opened and we went inside. The museum itself was Awesome! Exhibits were well thought out, organized and extremely well done! It becomes obvious the work that has been put into out in the field to uncover, organize and preserve much of the museum’s content. Displays have a good combination of visual and written content with just enough writing to adequately explain what you are seeing but not interrupting the flow through the exhibits. The Museum represents not only Pirates but also the rich background of Salem and its maritime history. It is well worth the time spent to explore and I highly recommend! A side note…after existing the museum my family and I were approached outside by a gentleman who inquired about our experience and it turned out to be the museums director, a former Massachusetts State Senator, and he was truly interested in our feedback and was highly invested in the museum, its content and community! Great Experience - Thank You!

Good. - The Value for Award is good. A beautiful square with history, a tour without Guide, with reading and some scenes. The artifacts are pretty much all the same.
