Additional Information

The narrative of rum began in the Caribbean in around the 17th century. The session on Cooking with Rum delves into the revolutionary role and history of rum in Caribbean society and its culinary practices.

A variety of rums will be available for tasting and adding a unique touch to the dishes. Being in Antigua, our journey begins with the island’s prizewinning 5-year old English Harbor rum, proceeding after to three other exquisite brands from nations like Barbados, Guatemala, Cuba, Jamaica, and Martinique.

The cuisine served will exhibit to our attendees how different rums can enhance the taste of dishes, no matter if it’s a conventional dark rum or a refined white.

Participate in this course, not solely to discover novel tastes, but to relish the opportunity of cooking alongside new acquaintances in an authentic West Indian residence, boasting stunning Caribbean Sea vistas!

Fantastic fun! - Had a great time, the food was fabulous and the company was even better. Made to feel like you are part of the family not just talking to someone you only met an hour ago! 100% recommended. Not only did I have a great time I also learnt a lot about Rum whilst looking out over a fabulous view of the Caribbean Sea.

A perfect day! - A perfect day in every way! Delicious food and drink, interesting and gracious hosts, and a spectacular setting with hilltop view of the sparkling bay below. Our family of two adults and two college-aged children rated this among our top (possibly the top) Caribbean excursions. Highly recommend this experience for anyone wanting to venture beyond the beach and enjoy a slice of Antigua life.

Fun Day, Yummy Food, Great Recipes! - We had so much fun hanging out at Nicole‘s beautiful home, while chatting, drinking rum punch, cooking, and learning some fabulous recipes. Perfect day, and I will make these recipes again! In fact, I am making the beans and rice with coconut milk as I write this review. Thanks, Nicole! All the best.

Must Do in Antigua! - I can't begin to say how amazing this was! We had a blast getting to know our group especially Nicole and Adam. We have traveled a lot and this was our favorite excursion ever. It was like going into a friend's home and making wonderful food. The sweet potato soup is my new favorite, and the pumpkin fritters were outstanding. Adam was so knowledgable about rum and mad us laugh with his stories. This is a must do if you come to Antigua!

A rewarding authenticity experience! - So much fun! Super relaxing and great way to spend a few hours away from the beach or pool. Nicole was fun and informative and made our kitchen adventure a blast. The views from her home are only surpassed by the food she taught us to cook and her own delightful personality. Would definitely do it again on another trip!

Amazing Class - Such an awesome experience! Nicole and her family were so welcoming. Her home is beautiful and creates a perfect backdrop for the class. The class was so much fun and it was great getting to learn some dishes that we can take home with us to remember this trip. The rum tasting was fun, too. We learned about the history of rum and different ways to enjoy your rum. My wife and I are happy with our experience here for our honeymoon. We can't wait to come back to Antigua and take another class. Thanks, Nicole!

The best way to spend 4 hours and best cooking course ever! - Highly recommend Nicole’s with Rum Cooking Class in St John, Antiqua. It’s a great way to spend 4-hours , where you walk away after one of the best lunches you’ve ever had and one that you prepped and made. Nicole is an amazing teacher and her gift, well loved too for cooking and sharing that passion with others is very evident. I wish I could have taken all the courses offered and hope that one day I’ll be a repeat guest at another cooking class. Her home is gorgeous, including the veranda and views that overlook the island. It’s such a peaceful to be on the island, and even if you are not a cook or familiar with being in a kitchen. Nicole is patient and has a way that makes you feel at home. She shares her passion about cooking while teaching you how to make island dishes with rum. My husband who was on the fence in taking this excursion on our own from a cruise port stop stated it’s his all time favorite over 10 years of cruise ship out excursions I’ve booked. Every dish is something that you can easily make from home. I suggest that you pay attention as to ingredients and how you prep but you also get the recipes and directions. It was well worth the cost too. If you get a chance where you can book private class or book as a group with friends I’d recommend that too. I will forever remember my time at Nicole’s house and the delicious food that we made and ate in the most picture perfect setting.

Best ever cooking course experience! - My husband was on the fence about my pick for a cruise shore excursion but afterwards he said it was amazing and would highly recommend Nicole’s Rum Cooking Class (and has to others on the cruise). Nicole is very gifted at teaching, so no worries if you don’t know how to cook or are on the fence about trying new food. Nicole was very patient with us and answered any questions we had. We enjoyed her home and family. They have the most beautiful home to cook and enjoy a meal in too. Every item we made was amazing and will be added to my family favorite recipes. Even the soup which I was sure I wasn’t going to like but ended up loving it. I’m not a soup fan but this recipe won me over. My husband and I had the best afternoon and hope to return next year during a cruise port stop. I know we will be sharing our experience with friends and cruisers for a long time. No worries too on getting back to the cruise port on time as Nicole speaks with the taxi driver when he drops you off to set pickup time for return to the ship. Don’t hesitate to book and if you can bring your friends along to enjoy an amazing experience and great food.

The most beautiful 4 hours of my life - My wife found this experience and neither of us truly knew what we were getting ourselves into. Nicole and Adam have an amazing home nestled on top of one of the larger hills/mountains on the island with a beautiful garden and view over the harbor. I actually teared up with how beautiful it was. Nicole's recipes are to die for. She is an excellent teacher, and the recipes are very difficult to mess up (while still being delicious). The class is more about fun and doing-a-thing-together than a stressful reminder that your knife skills need work. She even adapted her recipes for my wife, who has a gluten allergy. Nicole was knowledgeable and made us feel safe with her dietary needs without feeling excluded - she even changed the dessert to be an orange almond cake so my wife could enjoy every course! While the food baked away in the oven and on the stove, Adam invites all of the guests to do a rum tasting from his personal collection. He is eager to share what he knows, but is not pretentious at all. The vibe was as if we were all old friends getting together to try new things. We took our class on American Thanksgiving this year, and all of the other guests were so lovely. Adam and Nicole knew how to break down barriers and fostered an atmosphere of friendliness and facilitated conversations between people from around the world. If you are in Antigua, this is a MUST do activity. Thank you so much, Nicole and Adam, for not only being such great hosts, but for being one of the highlights of our entire vacation.
