Additional Information

The Cardiff Dark Side Tour unveils the hidden aspects of the Welsh capital.

Known for its impressive castle and renowned rugby stadium, Cardiff owes its prosperity to the Bute family and the successful coal export business. Yet, it harbors a more grim history that isn’t prominently visible today, characterized by hangings, executions, cemeteries, and illness, to name a few.

Elements of this disturbing past subsist, concealed, in centrally located areas of Cardiff that we often pass daily, potentially sites of past executions or impoverished areas.

Location
John Batchelor Statue
The Hayes
The walking tour starts from next to the statue of John Batchelor, who sits in the centre of Cardiff city centre on The Hayes. The guide will be carrying a green umbrella.

Very Interesting insight to Cardiff - We had a private tour booked for us in Cardiff. This tour has something for everyone, including the history of Cardiff and some of the more dark side, ghosts, murders etc.

Great tour for anyone looking for for more than just a history lesson. - Organised and funded by City of Arcades week, 2022. Despite the heavens opening for most of the tour the guides delivery of the tour over came this. Have lived here for over 20 years, I still discovered new facts, tales and the darker history of Cardiff. Great tour for anyone looking for for more than just a history lesson.

A great experience, despite the rain - all down to the guide! - Had a great tour of Cardiff After Dark as part of the City of Arcades week, 2022. LOTS of gory, gruesome (and of course sometimes sad) details of Cardiff's darker past. Despite the rain, sometimes constant, Eugene kept his enthusiasm up the entire time. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to others! Thank you.

Came Back for Seconds - I didn’t think Cardiff could have such a dark past, but Eugene gave us all the gritty details in the most tasteful way. It was so interesting and there was some light comedy to keep our spirits up. It certainly felt like a cool extension of the normal city day tour. I came to this right after the day tour and I will probably be back for another tour with him.
