Hidden away in the valley of the Aravali range, Ranakpur boasts stunning temple complexes. The highlight of this day trip is the magnificently splendid Ranakpur Jain Temple. According to legend, a local Jain businessman named Dharma Shah initiated the temple’s construction to honor a divine vision from Adinath, the first Jain Tirthankar. The construction began in the 15th century under the reign of the provincial monarch Rana Kumbh, after whom the town is named. Designed as a Chaumukha (four-faced temple), the quadruple image of Tirthankar Adinath symbolizes his triumph over the four directions. The stone carving is inspired by the ancient Mirpur Jain temple. With 29 impressive halls and 1114 uniquely carved pillars, all crafted from pure white marble, the temple is truly divine. It is said that the white marble changes to hues of blue and yellow when touched by the sun’s rays. After a spiritually enriching afternoon in Ranakpur, return to the hotel where the tour concludes.
