Antigua Guatemala, Once the third largest city in all of Spanish Colonial America and for 200 years the capital of Guatemala, it is today a peaceful, beautiful and partially restored colonial city. Cobblestone streets wind through the city of majestic churches and monasteries.

  • Iglesia de La Merced - La Merced Church of Guatemalan Ultrabaroque style, this temple has two bell towers. On the facade of the church, in its upper part is a sculpture of San Pedro Nolasco, founder of the Mercedarian Order.
  • Arco de Santa Catalina - Santa Catalina Arch, built to connect the nuns between cloisters to avoid being seen due to the votes that the religious who belonged to that Order took, After the earthquakes of 1773, the arch became important due to the arrangements that were made. These arrangements included the construction of a turret and the inclusion of a Lamy Amp Lacroix watch of French origin.
  • The Plaza Central Park - Central Park surrounded by the traditional grid pattern used frequently in urban planning in the Spanish colonies. The park is surrounded by the Palace of the General Captains, the Town Hall, the Cathedral of San Jose and the Trade Portal.

Here in the park, we will also find the Las Sirenas fountain. This fountain has a traditional oral where the Count of La Gomera ordered to build the fountain in memory of his daughters, who in giving birth did not want to breastfeed their children for what the count ordered To tie his daughters to a trunk in the center of a waterhole, where they died of thirst and hunger.

  • Tanque de la Union - La Union tank is one of the most representative laundries in this city, only the big houses had a place where they could be washed. For this reason, most of the inhabitants - housewives - went to public laundries. This was inaugurated on February 3, 1853.

Wonderful! This is a must do! - This was an amazing experience! My daughter and I learned so much about this beautiful town. I appreciated Roberto’s knowledge and passion during our tour. He provided so much history and gave us a much deeper understanding of Antigua. We received great recommendations or places to see, eat etc. I was impressed by Roberto’s enthusiasm, kindness and his genuine pride of this most beautiful town. I can’t recommend Roberto and this tour enough!!

Beautiful - We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Antigua. Our guide Ruben, did an awesome job making sure we saw all of the beautiful sights in the city. We particularly enjoyed casa San Domingo and all the Antiquities there. There was going to be a wedding the following day and so we were able to see the reception hall and church being prepared for it. The Jade factory tour was interesting but we particularly enjoyed the arch and Merced Church.

Informative tour of Antigua - Our tour guide Sao Paolo was excellent. He knew a lot about the history of Antigua and Guatemala and was able to explain it concisely to us in English. We were in the tour with another couple from Spain, so Sao Paolo would switch back and forth between English and Spanish without missing a beat as he guided us through the city. I was amazed! He could tell this was our first time in Guatemala and offered suggestions on what to do, where to go, what to eat, where to buy the best coffee, I'd recommend this tour to begin your stay in Antigua!

Great way to start a visit to Antigua! - Alfredo was an excellent guide, and taught us all about this beautiful and historic city. It was the first thing we did when we arrived, which helped make the remainder of our visit to the city so much enjoyable because we learned so much and had such a greater appreciation for the city and its people. I highly recommend this walking tour to anyone who visits Antigua.
