The Kiswa Factory of the Holy Ka’aba - Located in Makkah, the Kiswah Factory is where the revered cloth covering the Kaaba is made. This black silk fabric, known as the Kiswah, is adorned with Quranic verses in gold and silver thread and is replaced every year on the 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah. The tradition of draping the Kaaba dates back to pre-Islamic times, and today, the Saudi government manages the production at this factory, which was founded in 1927 by King Abdulaziz Al Saud. Situated in the Umm Al-Joud area, approximately 10 kilometers from the Grand Mosque, the factory employs around 200 skilled artisans who diligently work throughout the year to create the Kiswah. Visitors to the factory can observe the detailed processes of designing, dyeing, weaving, and embroidering, providing an intriguing insight into the craftsmanship and spiritual importance of this Islamic tradition.

Al Houdaibeiah - The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah (Sulah Hudaibiya) was a significant peace agreement signed in 628 CE (6th year of Hijrah) between the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), representing the Muslims of Medina, and the Quraysh tribe of Makkah. The treaty was named after the location where it was negotiated, Hudaybiyyah, located just outside Makkah.
This event occurred when the Prophet, along with about 1,400 of his followers, set out on a peaceful mission to perform Umrah (the minor pilgrimage) at the Kaaba. Despite their peaceful intentions, the Quraysh tribe resisted their entry into Makkah. After negotiations, both parties agreed to the treaty’s terms, which included a ten-year truce and allowed Muslims to return the following year for Umrah without conflict. Another condition stated that any Makkans who converted to Islam and fled to Medina would be returned to Makkah, while anyone who left Medina to rejoin the Quraysh would not be sent back.
