Lao Cai – Bac Ha – Can Cau – Bac Ha (Saturday Only)
Can Cau Market - Located approximately 20 km from Bac Ha, Can Cau market is a vibrant and colorful small market that operates exclusively on Saturdays. Upon arrival, visitors will have the opportunity to wander around and explore the market. Here, one can witness various ethnic minority groups, such as the Flower Hmong, Black Zao, and Phu La, adorned in their traditional, colorful attire. Additionally, a diverse array of products offered by the locals can be seen.
After departing from the market, the journey continues to Bac Ha town for a delightful lunch.
Post-lunch and a brief rest, the afternoon tour proceeds with a walk to Ban Pho village, home to the Nung and Flower Hmong ethnic communities. This village is renowned for its plum cultivation. Visitors will have the chance to observe the daily lives and activities of the locals and participate in some of their customary practices. Moreover, a visit to a local home offers the opportunity to savor a cup of corn wine, another notable product of the village.
Bac Ha – Trung Do – Boat Trip on Chay River – Lao Cai (Sunday Only)
Bac Ha Market - The tour continues with a drive to Bac Ha market, the largest in the region, open only on Sundays.
En route, travelers will cross the Bao Nhai bridge and ascend to enjoy breathtaking views of the valleys. It’s advisable to keep a camera ready to capture these picturesque scenes.
Upon reaching the market, visitors can stroll around and explore. Here, one can see various ethnic minority groups, such as the Hmong, Phu La, Black Dzao, Tay, and Nung, in their traditional, colorful attire, along with a wide range of homemade products sold by the locals. After exploring, lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant.
Lao Cai - Following a pleasant lunch and a short rest, the afternoon tour continues with a drive downhill to Lao Cai, taking approximately one hour. Along the way, there will be a stop for a short walk to visit Trung Do village, home to the Tay people. Tay villages are typically located at the base of a mountain or along a stream and are named after natural features like mountains, fields, or rivers. Each village comprises about 15-20 households, with larger villages divided into smaller hamlets. Their homes are often built on stilts. While exploring, visitors can enter a traditional Tay house to enjoy a cup of tea. Subsequently, a boat ride upstream on the Chay River offers the chance to admire the beautiful riverside scenery. The boat trip concludes at Bao Nhai bridge, where transportation awaits to return to Lao Cai. The tour concludes upon arrival at the hotel.
