The ultimate Northern/Central Taiwan experience with Henry - I’ve had the absolute pleasure of touring with Henry twice—first in June 2023 and again in April 2025—and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Henry is, quite simply, the best.
From the start, Henry impressed us with his deep knowledge of every destination. He shares fascinating history and local insights without needing to be asked, and he does it in a way that’s engaging and never overwhelming. He’s accommodating and never makes you feel rushed, always letting you enjoy each location at your own pace. He’s also incredibly thoughtful—offering to take family photos without prompting—and genuinely funny, delivering jokes in fluent English that had us all laughing.
I first met Henry during a half-day tour to Jiufen, Shifen, and Yehliu Geopark in 2023. He was so kind and professional that I knew I had to book with him again. In 2025, we returned for four more tours with Henry, visiting Sun Moon Lake, Hehuan Mountain, Jiufen, Shifen, Yehliu, Yilan, the Kavalan Distillery, and Ah Mei’s Animal Farm.
Henry made such an impression on my children that they affectionately started calling him “Uncle Henry.” He truly makes you feel like family. He’s always punctual, often arriving early, and drives with such skill and care that none of us ever felt carsick—a rare feat on winding roads. With a professional driver’s license in Taiwan, he navigates even the narrow streets of Jiufen with ease.
At each stop, Henry recommends the best local eateries and food stalls. Thanks to him, we had some unforgettable meals and snacks in Taichung and Taipei. He’s also incredibly attentive to weather conditions, adjusting our itinerary to ensure the best experience—like getting us to Shifen to launch lanterns just before the rain began.
Henry has a gift for reading his guests and customizing the tour to suit their needs and preferences. Our family of five had the most memorable time in Taiwan because of him. More than just a guide, Henry has become a true friend—and we will always be grateful for the experiences he gave us.

Nice tour to Shifen and Jiufen - This was a nice half day to the waterfall, Shifen and Jiufen. The waterfall is nice. Shifen is quirky and it’s cool to release the lantern after writing on it! Jiufen is also a lovely, traditional area and cool to walk around. James stopped at a place for some local foods on the way back to Taipei which was a nice way to end the tour. Thank-you!

Sky Lanterns a MUST - We went to the Highlights of Taiwan. Really enjoyed seeing the waterfalls followed by the Sky Lanterns. Special thanks to our Tour Guide-Sean. He really took the time to explain and translate for us while walking through the Markets and Vendors. Sean also suggested where we could get better prices. Thanks, Sean, for taking our pictures at the Photo Hot Spots. You made our trip very enjoyable! Highly recommend!

Excellent family trip to see Jiufen and Shifen - We had such a great time on this trip as a family that my daughter wanted to write this review.
Bubble is an excellent driver and an outstanding tour guide, he filled our boredom with interesting facts of Taiwan history and shared information on local stores. Bubble led us to the Shifen Waterfall and Bubble took photos of us and made us laugh, smile and enjoyed the whole way through.
During the car ride, he offered us bottles of water and gave us a new snack called ‘Ox-tongue pastry.’ Along the journey we also went to the Shifen Old Street and painted on the paper lanterns using Chinese traditional brushes. We wrote our wishes down and released it to the endless sky.
After that, Bubble took us to a new adventure at Jiufen, where we ate little street foods that filled our stomachs with warmth. Every few shops and stalls, Bubble would stop and introduce us to try out varieties of food and drinks.
At the end of our experience we had learnt so much in just one day, visiting the Golden Waterfall put our journey to a final stop.

Not what we paid for, Nicolas - We had Nicolas as our driver. He was very friendly and provided a lot of history throughout the day. However, we noticed right away that he was keeping a fairly fast pace with each stop we made. One of the stops I was looking forward to was Jiufen. I enjoy doing photography and was looking forward to our "one hour" of personal time to explore Jiufen. Well, to put this in fewer words, Nicolas changes the itinerary to shave off time in Jiufen so he can take you to his friends tea shop in Taipei in an attempt to sell you expensive tea. You see, in Jiufen, Nicolas parked his car at someone's garage. He pays them for the time his car is parked there. He then led us on a short tour to a few spots in Jiufen, including a cool little shop owned by an artist called Mr. Lee. Nicolas quickly walked us around and took us to a few spots where he said people like to take photos. Suddenly, we find ourselves being led up some stairs to a teahouse where he proceeded to sit us down and order tea and snacks for us. It was our understanding that this was something that was "optional" and that could be done on our own time during the "hour" we were supposed to have to ourselves. We never had any free time in Jiufen. When he took us back to his car to leave Jiufen, it was clear that he had cut our time there. When we arrived to his friend's tea shop in Taipei, it was approximately 2:30 pm, 30 minutes prior to the time our tour was supposed to end. So, my advice to anyone booking this tour is to keep track of the time. When you arrive to Jiufen, and Nicolas parks his car, check the time. Ensure that he gives you the solid hour tour you paid for, and then demand that you have the one hour of personal time to explore the village. Oddly, we even told Nicolas about a "tea scam" were experienced in China, only to have him sort of pull the same thing on us at the end of the day. We never asked to go to his friend's teahouse, and he never asked us whether we wanted to go there or not. It was an awkward day and a big disappointment.
