Fantastic Husky sleigh ride - Fantastic! Everything went smoothly, the bus transfer from Roveneimi city, all the cold weather gear you need is supplied, the sleigh was ready for us, the huskies are very well cared for and clearly love their job. Not cheap but absolutely worth the money.

Great half-day introduction - This was a very well-run activity. I was staying in Rovaniemi, not at Apukka Resort itself, but they have a shuttle bus that was on time, very comfortable and very easy to find. If you don’t have warm, waterproof gear they give you insulated overalls. You then get a short but very adequate lesson on sleigh-driving - mushing - and get taken straight into the dog yards, where the trains of dogs are hooked up and going crazy with excitement at the chance to go for a run. It is very noisy! But then as soon as each sled gets moving the dogs are silent, just very happily trotting along. It is quite gorgeous. The route is about 8km and takes maybe an hour, including stops to change drivers and take photos. It is such good fun that of course one would like the tour to last longer, but the dogs do this x3 per day and so it is fair enough that the active part of this activity is only about an hour. After you get back you get a chance to pat the now-relaxed dogs, and then the guidestake you into one of the tee-pee structures for hot lingonberry juice and a chat about dog-sledding. It was a very fun way to spend a morning and I recommend it. If you want to do a much longer tour then I assume you need to make special arrangements and perhaps with another company, but for an ‘experience’ this was a lovely way to spend effectively a half-day. Also, the dogs here were obviously well cared-for and happy, in fact it seems that Apukka receives dogs rescued from less-reputable operators. That’s a big pointer in their favour. Recommended.

Husky ride in Rovaniemi - We heard from others about this activity. This was the first time we rode with Husky dogs. It was a great experience. We loved it

Epic adventure in Lapland! - The husky safari was the highlight. We made sure to choose an ethical provider, and Apukka’s no-cull policy and well-cared-for huskies made all the difference. Overall, an epic adventure in Lapland!

An amazing experience in Lapland! - One of the main reasons we chose Apukka was their commitment to ethical husky safaris. Not all places treat their huskies well, and ensuring high welfare standards was really important to us. We carefully researched and were happy to find that Apukka has a strict no-cull policy, meaning retired dogs are loved and cared for, not discarded. Seeing the huskies in person confirmed everything—the dogs looked healthy, happy, and incredibly well cared for. They were so sweet and cuddly, clearly adored the staff, and when it was time to run, they were bursting with excitement! It was an amazing experience knowing we were supporting a place that genuinely puts their animals first.
Beyond ethical considerations, Apukka’s husky adventure was also super well-organized. From a clear meet-up spot and a great introduction, to the sheer fun of the ride itself, everything was seamless. To top it all off, we ended the experience gathered around a fire in a traditional Kota, enjoying a warm drink—a perfect way to soak in the magic of the day.

Best day - If I could give 10 stars, I would. Had a very nice tour. Doggies are very loved a very well cared for. Tour went through the forest and bit over a lake. Lovely! Guides super nice and you can see and feel the love for the dogs. Afterwards, time crosses your fingers to hug and take pictures. Cuddle with the puppies for dessert. Only downside was that you weren't allowed to take them. This tour is highly recommended!

Amazing husky safari - An amazing husky experience!! The dogs are well taken care of and very cuddly. The sleigh ride had the perfect length and we both got the opportunity to steer. We got a lot of insights into the huskies and were even able to cuddle some puppies. Also the allround package was super with pick-up, winter clothing and drop-off - highly recommended!

Very nice experience - We had a very nice experience with getting to drive a dog band on our own. It was friendly staff who had a great focus on the welfare of the animals and that we should have a good experience. The experience lasted approximately 2 hours, but the very slide ride lasted quite short. Then we greeted the dogs and puppies.

A beautiful experience with a bland aftertaste - We had booked the husky tour because we wanted to control a sled ourselves. The tour was incl. pick up in the city at 179 euros/person relatively expensive. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff was very helpful.
We were also thoroughly instructed on how to control the sled.
At the starting point, however, the dogs constantly got caught in the pull ropes, as they jumped over each other and were very excited. That said, the beginning was a bit bumpy. The rest of the about 5 km long route went quite well.
When we arrived at our destination, my guilty conscience came. One of the dogs fell straight onto its side before we reached the final parking position. I asked if everything was okay. One of the guides said this dog would always do that and pulled him back on his feet to run the last few meters. The dogs were very exhausted after the tour, but did not even get anything to drink. And they were obviously thirsty as they were always gasping for snow during the tour. Now I wonder if animal welfare is a top priority here, or the dogs are just being burned...Ashes on my head! Wouldn't do the tour there anymore

Scam money machine - We spent over 3000 euros at Apukka resort on all their excursions. The service and quality are not at all up to the price.
It's a tourist factory that handles hundreds of pigeons a day, a bad McDo of excursions.
Only the snowmobile ride is passable. The Husky dog ride lasts 10 minutes, it's a scam. All evening excursions after 6pm are to be avoided absolutely because of the extreme cold and the very low chances of seeing an Aurora Boreale, risks about which Apukka Resort brazenly lies to its guests.
Do not pay for your excursions in advance, they refuse any refund and especially any exchange. There are many competitors in Rovaniemi and you will always find places for an excursion, even at Christmas.
To be avoided absolutely!
