Awesome visit - This was such an informative visit, despite the dull drizzling weather our guide Daniel was awesome. This should be a “must visit” for anyone visiting Rotorua

What a spot!!! - Daniel was an incredible guide - really lived up to his ancestor's standards. My son (9) enjoyed Daniels keen knowledge on cooking, and how delicious the corn was. Highly recommend this immersive experience compared to some others in town. This felt close, familiar, knowledgeable, and affordable. It didn't try to dazzle with fancy lights, just kept it for what it was - an original, cultural, experience. Will highly recommend to any future friends or family travelling to the area. Nga Mihi !!!

Guided Tour & Cultural Performance - We visited the living Māori Village in May 2024, on a family holiday. Kylie was our tour guide, and she was absolutely fantastic! She gave us so much information about Maori culture & history. The performance we watched, was also amazing. The enthusiasm & effort they put into the performance was great, and they got us tourists involved as well. I highly recommend visiting Whakarewarewa. We were able to see a few of the geysers blow while we were there as well!

Surprising experience - Very interesting visit both for the geological and anthropological aspects. I love the Maori culture for life in communion with Nature, with respect, what I receive I give back and I collect only what I need, honoring it. Each of us should live with this attitude. Geisers are incredible phenomena, the heat of Mother Earth, her strength that is powerfully expressed. Fascinating. The guide was very good and passionately introduced us to the life of the village and their history. Compliments.

A must-visit while in Rotorua! - This guided tour was absolutely excellent. Our guide Kylie gave a comprehensive and interesting history of the village, and explained how they live there today. There was even the opportunity to try a boiled egg that had been cooked in the geothermal pools. You can see the Pohutu Geyser at the end of the tour - so you may see it go off while there!! You have free time to wander around the village after the tour, which was great. I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to learn more about Maori culture. Definitely do the cultural performance if you can too - but it books up fast!

A wonderful experience of culture and tradition - So welcoming to our group. Wonderful views across the village. I love the New Zealand made souvenirs in the gift shop. Our guide Wai is a beautiful person, every one of our group commented about her spiritual connection to the village and the history, full of knowledge to share, she made us feel welcome in her home.

Do not miss this tour - My Auntie from the USA wanted to learn about Māori culture and chose this tour from the web site. It was well organised, good value, a nice small group. Our guide Daniel was both personable, professional, fun, engaging, and drop dead handsome. You can tell he’s been giving this tour for a while, but there was nothing stale or by rote about his presentation. It added depth that his ancestors are from the village, and his opening tribute to guides of the past was perfect. Only two things seemed odd to me about the village. Daniel was talking up the sustainability of the village given the reduced need for electricity, given the thermal heat, however, the raised garden beds had little in them and most of the buildings had a vacant feel about them. I may have missed something, but it seems that the possibility of a résiliant life is likely there but is not the current reality. Also I found it surprising that many of the buildings seem under maintained. I would have thought that preserving the village structures would have been a high priority. I should have asked Daniel about that but the question did not occur to me until the tour was over.
