Into the Heart of the Rainforest

The day began with a sense of anticipation as I joined a small group of fellow adventurers, all eager to explore the hidden wonders of Roseau. Our guide, Colbert, greeted us with a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm that set the tone for the day. As we drove towards the Dominica Botanic Gardens, I couldn’t help but feel a familiar thrill, reminiscent of the excitement I used to feel before a big surf competition.

Chasing Waterfalls

Our next stop was the majestic Trafalgar Falls, a sight that promised to be as exhilarating as catching the perfect wave. The hike to the falls was a gentle ascent, made easier by well-placed stairs that guided us through the dense rainforest. As we approached the viewing platform, the sound of cascading water grew louder, building anticipation with each step.

Sulphur Springs and Hidden Gorges

After the waterfalls, we made our way to the Wotten Waven Sulphur Springs, a place where the earth’s raw energy is on full display. The bubbling geysers and steaming pools were a testament to the island’s volcanic origins, and I couldn’t resist purchasing some sulfur clay to take home as a memento.

The final adventure of the day was a swim through the Titou Gorge, a hidden gem that promised to be the highlight of our journey. As we swam against the current, the cool water invigorated my senses, and the rebar handles and ropes provided a reassuring grip as we navigated the narrow passage. Emerging into the cavern, we were greeted by a stunning waterfall, its roar echoing off the walls in a symphony of nature’s power.
