Highlights
  • Villa Borghese - The best way for us to describe the Villa Borghese gardens is:

As the keeper of the Villa Borghese Pinciana, I publicly declare: whoever you are, providing to be a freeman, fear no hindrance here; go where you like, ask what you wish; leave when you want. Everything you see was made more for the guest than for its landlord. In the golden century, when peaceful years made any thing splendid for the refined ones, the landlord forbade all iron rules for the guest.

Let good faith be the only rule for our friend.

But if someone, consciously and purposely, by wickedness and deceit, was to break the golden rules of courtesy, be alert, the angry keeper may break these friendly words on your head.

(Latin inscription carved on marble plate at Villa Borghese).

Incredible. Fascinating. Unforgettable. - Frederico was absolutely amazing. I knew very little about the history of the museum and he had us so enthralled in the stories and history of that incredible museum, We could have listened to him all day. What a wonderful experience. Thank you so much!

Unforgettable Villa Borghese Museum Tour: A Must-Do Experience in Rome - We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Villa Borghese Museum, which was nothing short of fantastic. The museum's artwork, statues, and paintings left us in awe. Our tour guide, Alisha, was incredibly knowledgeable and provided insightful commentary on each section of the museum. Additionally, she gave us a delightful tour of the gardens. We highly recommend this tour to all tourists visiting Rome—it's a must-see experience.

Phenomenal Gallery - Very knowledgeable tour guide. The collection was amazing from the Roman mosaics, the vast collection of paintings, to an awesome collection of Bernini statuary and ancient Roman statuary. There was lots more, but the museum's 2 hour limit means that you only get a small taste of the collection. Well worth going back multiple times!

Spectacular space and fantastic guide - Mattia was a phenomenal guide to this exquisite space filled with gorgeous art. We loved learning the back stories about the Caravaggios and Berninis as well as the patron who had the gallery built. This tour was perfect!

Great tour guide! - I had a wonderful experience on this tour. I was hesitant at first about whether I should get a guided tour or go there on my own but I am so glad I did this. My tour guide Federico was incredibly clarifying and helpful. He provided the necessary context and the highlights of different artworks. Unlike the typical tour guide I have met so far, he was telling us a story and not just listing facts. He explained the difference between Baroque style and contrasted it with the classical style and showed how it is reflected in the artworks in the Gallery. His explanation was not lengthy but comprehensive enough to bring our experience to a new level. I went home gaining not only new understanding of the exhibited pieces but also knowledge to appreciate artworks in Rome in a different way. Certainly the best tour I had in Rome!

Beautiful museum and statues! - Frederico was excellent. Beautiful museum! Love the Bernini statues together. The connection between the statue and the ceiling fresco is something I would have totally missed on my own.

Try to get ordinary admission and self guided audio tour - Too expensive and guide very average. Should have taken self guided tour. On line they say there are no tickets to make you buy a guided tour but when you arrive there are tickets available. So it’s a con to make you buy the expensive option.

Expensive and not worth it: try queuing instead. - The Borghese gallery is fabulous but the cost of the guided tour was much too high- it was implied that tickets without a guide were sold out but actually there was a short queue and we could easily have got in without “skip the queue” at a cutting 15 euros rather than 80. The guide added very little indeed.
