• Fiume Tevere - The river that flows through the city of Rome. Known in ancient times as the Tiber, it lends its name to the neighborhood we will explore. In fact, Tras-Tevere means “Beyond the Tiber.”
• Trastevere - We will wander through the alleys of Trastevere to discover how this historic neighborhood has evolved from the Roman era to today. There will be opportunities to view the most captivating sights that define the ancient heart of Rome.
• Isola Tiberina - On Tiber Island, we will explore an area featuring an ancient convent and the lower section, where the remnants of the island’s Roman-era stone boat lining can be seen.
• Santa Cecilia in Trastevere - Beneath Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, we will have the chance to visit the remains of a republican quarter, complete with amphorae, mosaics, and ancient structures like Roman domus.
• Excubitorium della VII coorte dei vigili - An ancient fire station from the times of ancient Rome.
• Basilica di San Nicola in Carcere - The Basilica of San Nicola in Carcere houses, in its basement, the remains of three pagan temples, having been constructed atop one of them.

The district ‘Trastevere’ gets its name from the Latin for ‘Across the Tiber’.
Historically, it was inhabited by Jews and freed slaves, or Liberti. This district is amongst the most picturesque and historic in the city, laden with stories, ancient spots, and subterranean sites.
Our exploration begins by unearthing the interesting aspects of Trastevere, which includes Rome’s oldest synagogue. We will explore the remarkable and special subterranean parts of churches, and stroll through the narrow, timeworn alleyways. Subsequently, we will transverse the Tiber River, making our way to Tiber Island. Surprisingly, beneath an active monastery on the island which is run by a religious order, a centuries-old cemetery is preserved with numerous skeletal remains, however, it’s not open for visiting.
