A must-do tour of hidden treasures - The title of this tour, “The Unknown Treasures of Trastevere” could not be more fitting. I have been to Rome several times dating back to the 1990s and have never seen Trastevere like this! Before heading out on the tour, my guide Mario gave me a crash course (and some practice) in operating a Segway, this being my first time. His direction was great and he ensured that both he and I were comfortable and confident in me operating the Segway before embarking on the tour. (As an aside, during the direction and practice it became clear that my husband’s mobility issues would not allow him to participate in the tour without injuring himself and Mario was good enough to offer and tell me how to receive a refund for my husband, which speaks to the high integrity of this establishment). The tour began with a fascinating history of Tiber Island and its two hospitals. I learned much of the neighborhood’s stories history–both from ancient and medieval times– while zooming around the Roman Ghetto. My visit to Santa Cecilia in Trastevere was fantastic. Mario told me the legend of Cecilia the Virgin and her martyrdom and recommended I take a self guided tour of the church and it's crypt– which I was so happy I did. The statue of the saint is in and of itself a wonder, but the maze of rooms in the space below was amazing– filled with remnants of a time two thousand years ago and a fantastically restored crypt. Another stop on the tour was Santa Maria in Trastevere, the site where oil flowed from the ground and an early non-Paleo-Christian church was built. Stunning. Other notable sites visited or seen included the Ponte Palatino, Jewish Ghetto, and the Great Synagogue of Rome. We enjoyed biscotti at Biscottificio Innocent (don't miss the ‘brutto ma buono’) and the granita at Bar San Callisto…both included in the tour. Mario couldn't have been a nicer, more informed, and gracious guide full of empathy, knowledge, and good humor. I would highly recommend this experience.

If you do one thing in Rome, make sure it’s this. - This was FABULOUS. Emil our guide was so so good, he was so knowledgeable and answered our many questions while keeping us safe and taking us to the beautiful sights of Trastevere. Plus, I brought my Dad with me, at 72, (he used a bicycle whilst I used a Segway) this was THE best way to see Rome, way better than walking around on foot in the hot hot weather. Thankyou Emil and Maya for your wonderful service. I highly recommend.

Great way to make history and culture interesting for the young ones. - A great way to see parts of Rome while having fun on the Segway instead of on foot. Our tour guide was very helpful and kind. We were first time Segway users and he helped us get started quickly. A good way to make history and culture interesting for our teenagers.

Highlight of our trip to Rome! - After a friend recommended that I book a Segway tour in Rome for my boyfriends 30th, I started researching and not long after found Mario’s tours of Trastevere. He had absolutely glowing reviews and I felt excited to not only see some of Rome by Segway but to explore the beautiful Trastevere too! Well, we had an absolutely unbelievable time!! Mario was the best tour guide we could have asked for, so friendly and funny but also so knowledgeable and great at teaching first timers how to ride! Please book and experience this for yourself, both my boyfriend and I agree that this tour has been by far the highlight of our trip! Thank you Mario you’re an absolute legend!!
