Highlights
  • Villa d’Este - First stop here is Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana), the former holiday home of Emperor Hadrian – built in the 2nd century AD. More akin to a small village than a home in today’s sense of the word, the ostentatious villa ruins are incredible to visit, with ruins of thermal baths, temples, palaces, and theaters just waiting to be explored. Head into the site with your guide, and learn about the emperor’s ancient travels – reportedly the inspiration for many of the monuments – while walking around.

Highlight from our trip to Rome - This was the best experience from the whole trip to Rome. Getting away from the busy streets of the city into the calmness of the Adrian Villa and the beautiful waterscape of the Vila d'Este was amazing.

Brilliant - Fabulous, fabulous and more fabulous. The tour was really well organised and the sights you see at both locations are breathtakingly different. Not to be missed Tour.

Bellisimo!!! - Well worth it, even in the light rain 🌧 The driver was great and the host was fantastic and funny. He single-handedly may have convinced me to drop everything and move there 🇮🇹 Learned alot about the site and enjoyed all of the little nuances and secrets it held. Lots of walking but if the 80+ host could do it, so can you 😉

Beautiful history - This was a great exploration of Ancient Rome. Having been to Rome on three separate vacations, I needed to find new adventures. This one did not disappoint. Our guide was informative and cheerful. We learned so much history. Be prepared to do some hiking on both villa sites, well worth the cardio. Beautiful all the way.

Don't miss this one - Villa d'Este is a magnificent garden unlike any other I have visited in England, France or Japan. So worth the trip. We visited in November and it took our breath away. Visiting in the summer would be a wonderful respite from Rome's heat. But no matter when you visit you will be struck by the engineering feat of the running water and the indescribable beauty. Hadrian's Villa is amazing in another way. This emperor's structures are all over Europe. Think Hadrian's Wall in England and his arches in Turkey and Greece. But when you visit this place you get a feeling for the scope of his thinking and possibly the underlying unhappiness he may have experienced. It would be difficult to understand this ruin without a guide. Really worth the expense.

It could be better... - Trip was good about thirty to forty minutes. Driver drove well. Hadrian’s villa felt a bit rushed. It is huge but not all of it has been excavated. So we could have seen more. The tour guide explained much and well. He was knowledgeable. Villa d’este was beautiful. It is a beautiful villa. Again felt a little bit rushed. So this tour offered a general view of the two villas. If you want more detailed tour book them separately. One thing I did not appreciate was not under anyone’s control. I was made fun for thinking that marinara sauce was about the tomato. A snobbish fellow tourist corrected me because “as the word says it has products from the sea, Marinara seafood sauce”. It was pointed out to me that Americans don’t have culture. I did not reply. However I asked around and I learned that marinara sauce was called so because it was given to the sailers “marinos” in Naples. Sauce for sailers, marinara sauce. It was the flat bread with tomato sauce, I was right. Please share this with all the tour guides. It is not pleasant to be the person without culture in the group. Especially when the uncultured person has the correct fact.

Very nice guide, good transport - We enjoyed our trip to Hadrians Villa, it was very insightful. We were a bit disappointed when we arrived at Villa D'Este because we could only see parts of the gardens as the rest was blocked off because they were shooting a movie so that was a bit disappointing.

The worst guide for such a lovely place. I wish I could have gotten better info, his English& Spanish was terrible - This lovely place should have had a better tour guide. Our guide arrived late The group arrived there at 730-745am and our Guide got there at 7:55am and the Green line tours office never opened. The man from the Green line finally arrived at 8:20am to get us our bus.The most discouraging problem was our guide had to speak in 4 different languages and he didnt have a mastery of any language. The infohe gave was confusing and very basic
