Being Holy Week, I am so... - Being Holy Week, I am so grateful we booked a tour to the Dome climb and St Peter's Basilica. Alessandra knew how to get us ahead of the long lines and kept us moving and receiving a lot of information ending with a stroll through the Holy doors. It was great!!

Great tour! - This was a wonderful tour. We were able to get access to the basilica, climb the dome, and take part in the Jubilee festivities. I’m so happy the tour is offered at an early time. Vatican City was practically empty when we got there!

Disappointed - We were a bit disappointed. We knew that my mother would not be able to do the dome climb, so we were asked to wait in the Baslica. Unfortunately, after the dome climb our tour guide didn't come and get us and went down to the Papal Tombs without us. When we finally managed to hear them through the ear piece and find them we only got a short tour of the Basilica. It was very busy, so I understand it was hard for our tour guide, but he rushed through the Basilica and didn't wait for the group to catch up through the crowd. We thought we'd need this tour to get in, but I wish we would have just stood in line, gone in on our own and downloaded an audio tour.

Must see St Peter and climb dome. Not so great guide. - Do not miss climbing to the top of the dome, it is a must do! Signed up as this was the only way to get a slot to visit the dome. It is worth it even if you stop at the first level where the elevator ends for getting up close to the walls of the dome which are visible at quite a distance from below. Then don’t be deterred by people saying the staircase to the very top is too challenging. It was about a ten minute climb and there are windows throughout so it never felt claustrophobic. Once you get to the top, the view in all directions is spectacular. Unfortunately the guided tour of St Peter’s that followed the visit was not enjoyable as our guide was very irritable and kept squabbling with other people (tourists, workers) and there were many delays in walking through the church. Of course St Peter’s is a must see even for the non religious for the art alone and more so for the sense of history and meaning.

The tour started pourly... - The tour started pourly as the guide told a group of us to wait for her in the coffee shop and she would get us in a few minutes. Then we saw her leaving through the window and we scambled to run to catch her --- and I mean at least 10 people so it wasn't our misunderstanding. She did not apologize. The Tour was scheduled for 745-945am but did not end until 11:15am. Normally I wouldn't complain about getting an extra 90 minutes but most people could not understand the Tour guide. Next, we take lots of tours around the world (including with Viator which we normally love) and we understand there are always accents so we must be patient, but we couldn't understand more than 20% of what the guide was saying.... most of it criticizing the guests for not keeping up. After 2 hours we kept going in and out of St. Peters many times stopping at what felt like every possible painting which was overkill as several people left the Tour. In addition, the guide was horrible.... she kept running ahead leaving the rest of the group and then verbally criticized the group many times for not keeping up until several passengers got in an argument with her. She kept saying the police wouldn't let her just stop.... first, no one saw any guards telling her to run/doge through the crowds... and it was not a issue of her not stopping, rather her darting ahead through the crowds like a mouse assuming 20+ people could do the same. Almost no one could keep up with her - young or old... and many people were upset. We've probably done 20 Viator trips and we like them --- that's why we keep doing them. But this was by far our worst experience ever. In short, we couldn't understand the guide, the Tour was 90 minutes longer than advertised and 90 minutes longer than the ticket said, and finally no one could keep up with her and instead of just slowing down, she citizen the guests. Definately not the experience we normally get from Viator. David

Operator took out money but didn’t provide anything! - I would avoid this operator. We were referred to their tour by a third party booking agent. So we tried booking with them in Oct 2024 for a Nov 2024 tour day. After giving them our payment info we were told they didn’t have availability for the day we wanted so we booked elsewhere but they charged us anyway and wouldn’t refund us (we have all the emails confirming their unprofessional actions). Our booking agent stepped in with a partial refund but our experience with Vox City left a whole lot to be desired.
