Its construction was entrusted to influential artists of the Renaissance and Baroque periods such as Bramante, Raphael, Michelangelo, Sangallo, and Bernini. Once inside, you’ll be amazed by the stunning architecture and breathtaking artwork. Highlights include Michelangelo’s ‘Pieta’ and Bernini’s bronze canopy. Appreciate the Dome’s beautiful mosaics designed by the Vatican School. Michelangelo worked on the Dome’s design until he passed away at 89. Your guide will also lead you through the Papal Crypts housing the tomb of Saint Peter along with other Popes. The journey doesn’t end there, next you’ll ascend to the Dome, partly by elevator and then on foot up 320 steps. Upon reaching the top, you are rewarded with an all-encompassing 360° panoramic view of Rome.
