Perfect tour during a business trip - I had a few hours free while in Rome for work and this tour was a great way to use that time. The Barberini Palace is beautiful, and the guide was knowledgeable without overwhelming. A nice cultural break in a busy schedule.

Misleading Tour – No Caravaggio, Poor Value, Questionable Practices - We booked the Rome Barberini Palace Guided Tour because it was advertised as including Caravaggio—the highlight was even listed prominently in the description. Given the relatively high price, we expected access to the temporary Caravaggio exhibition, which was a key reason for choosing this experience over others.
In reality, the Caravaggio works were not included. That fact was buried in fine print you had to click through to find—not something reasonably visible when booking. We received a text message confirming this just after the 24-hour free cancellation period had expired. When we immediately asked to cancel, the operator refused, insisting we would lose the full amount. This was deeply frustrating and felt deliberately timed.
To make matters worse, on the day of the tour, another participant in our group was given a ticket that did include the Caravaggio exhibition—which raises serious questions about consistency and fairness.
The guided tour itself was underwhelming. While the guide was polite and knew a few details, they relied heavily on spotting artist names and titles during the walk, rather than delivering deep or engaging insights. The collection is beautiful, but not many major masterworks were highlighted, and the overall experience felt thin compared to what was promised.
After our experience, we looked at other tours run by this company on the Doooing platform, and noticed similar complaints from other customers—particularly about misleading descriptions, lack of transparency, and refusal to issue refunds. It seems this is not an isolated case, but a recurring issue.
We would strongly caution anyone considering this tour. Disappointing and avoidable.

Completely Misleading and Overpriced – Avoid - I feel thoroughly misled and extremely disappointed by this tour of the Barberini Palace. The main reason I booked – and paid an outrageous £330 – was the clear promise that we would see Caravaggio paintings. The advert explicitly stated twice that his works would be included. This was not just a selling point; it was the entire basis for choosing this experience.
What we got was a tour completely stripped of the very artworks it claimed to feature. All the Caravaggios had been removed for a separate exhibition, yet this was never disclosed before payment – not in the description, the booking confirmation, or at any point before payment and only after payment with a refusal for a refund. This is inexcusable.
To make matters worse, what was meant to be a two-hour experience ended up lasting just 90 minutes. Without the Caravaggios, the analysis of artistic comparison and development made little sense – how could we understand the progression without seeing the key pieces?
This felt not only like poor planning, but a deliberate misrepresentation. £330 for a cut-down, compromised tour with missing content is absolutely unacceptable. If artworks are removed, the company has a responsibility to inform customers beforehand – especially when they are the centrepiece of the experience.
I do not recommend this tour under any circumstances unless the organisers drastically improve their communication and transparency. This was a waste of time and money, and I left feeling frustrated and deceived.
The tour guide did try her best and should be commended. This is not worth the money though and the owner is not very good at customer service.
