Urumqi - Welcome to Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, renowned as the most distant major city from any ocean globally. Celebrated as a traveler’s haven, it features breathtaking natural landscapes, a rich cultural legacy, and distinctive local customs. Upon arrival, guests will be transferred to their hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is available for personal exploration.

Urumqi to Fuhai

Urumqi - Today, enjoy a tour of the scenic Heavenly Lake, located approximately 1.5 hours away, at an elevation of 2,000 meters in the Tianshan mountain range. Encircled by snow-covered peaks, vibrant wildflowers, and lush pine trees, the lake presents stunning views. A 40-minute scenic shuttle bus ride will guide you through dramatic mountain vistas. Upon arrival, you may choose to walk to the lakeside (around 10 minutes) or opt for an electric cart for ease.
You have three activity options to explore the area:
Boating cruise – Delight in the spectacular views of the Tianshan Mountains from the water.
Lakeside trekking – Wander along the shore and enjoy the crisp mountain air.
Maya Mountain exploration – Ascend via cable car for a magnificent panoramic view of the mountains.
After the visit, we will proceed to Fuhai County for an overnight stay.

Dushanzi District - Travel through the Gurbantunggut Desert to reach Urho Ghost City, also known as “Wuerhe Wind City”. This extraordinary wind-eroded geological formation is named for the constant howling winds that sculpt its surreal landscape.
Later, continue to Dushanzi to explore the magnificent Dushanzi Grand Canyon - one of Xinjiang’s hidden gems. Formed by centuries of snowmelt and rainfall from the Tianshan Mountains, its dramatic cliffs rise like a forest of towering bamboo shoots, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle.

Naraty to Yining then Train to Urumqi

Gulja - Say goodbye to the enchanting Naraty and return to Yining. Visit Kazanqi Folk Village, a charming blue fairy-tale town within the city. Nestled in the heart of the Tianshan Mountains, this village is adorned with colorful Uyghur homes. Featuring Soviet-style architecture dominated by sky blue, the vibrant spired houses with intricately carved wooden windows evoke the feel of Chefchaouen, Morocco.
Next, visit the Accordion Museum on Liuxing Street. It is reported that the museum boasts a collection of over 800 accordions from more than 20 countries, drawing numerous tourists for photography and attracting music enthusiasts from afar.
Later in the day, board a high-speed train from Yining to Urumqi. Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the train station and transferred to the hotel for check-in.
