Additional Information

The journey is set through a lush forest enclosed by towering mountains, where once a local village community depended on illicit crop cultivation for their livelihood. This has since become a distant memory as the area is now enveloped in peace, with villagers striving towards progress. This led to the inception of the ‘River Route Tour’, aimed at providing alternate income sources for the village’s farmers and native inhabitants. Although scantily populated, the area boosts a plethora of biodiversity. Submerge in the pristine waters of the Buriticá River and take part in the numerous activities on offer. From basking in the area’s indigenous flora and fauna to experiencing the warmth of the local populace, the tour offers it all. Engage in cultural exchange with the natives, ride horses, go tubing, embark on hiking trails, and more.

Done with heart - The tour ... is wonderful. We loved the scenery and thanks to our guide we spent two days full of adventures. Riding down the river in a bolla was refreshing and exciting, riding horses and motorcycles on the trails is an exhilarating experience. We went to two indigenous villages where we met the mamos who are the spiritual leaders and two students from the indigenous school who taught us how chocolate is made. It tastes great! Our guide told us a lot about nature, life as a farmer and how ecotourism is organized in the Sierra. We saw that they really care for the environment and work together with the indigenous and other farmers as equals. The guide shared his vision with us, he inspired us as much as the tour itself. We highly recommend it because it is done with heart and the project is very supportive of local people creating jobs with perspective even to the next generation. A little tip: We recommend using mineral/ecological sunscreen and apply it at least half an hour before getting into the river because conventional sunscreens pollute the ecosystem.
