Highlights

Full day trip is available in rafts OR inflatable kayaks. The day starts at 8:30 am and 15 minute drive with your group in a van up river to our put-in location. At the put-in, the group will receive the equipment for the trip, including PFD’s for everyone and splash tops and helmets as requested. After getting everyone geared up the group will receive a thorough paddling orientation ensuring you have all the info you need to be successful during your river day. Apply the sunscreen and it’s time to start floating.

The day starts off with some mild whitewater to build those paddling skills and learn the techniques you will need later in the day. Prior to lunch the group will see one class III rapid with some big waves to start testing those paddling skills. Sometime around lunch time the group will pull over to the rivers edge for a riverside picnic and some swimming.

After lunch it’s back to the river for the whitewater filled afternoon. After floating past Riggins the whitewater picks up starting with Timezone Rapid. This thrilling bit of whitewater has a few holes and waves so big you want to try and miss them while navigating through the exciting medium sized waves. A few more rapids brings the inflatable kayakers to the surfing spot where we will spend some time learning how to surf our kayaks before continuing on.

Finally as the afternoon winds down with some tired arms, big smiles, and with lots of great rapids behind us, the group pulls into the takeout and the waiting van. The guides will quickly pack up all the gear and it’s into the van for a 10 minute ride back to your waiting car and the conclusion of the trip.

Good Clean Fun - These guys took great care of my staff and I. Lunch was really good as well. They had at least 6 fancy mustards. That's just amazing!

Full Day Trip from Riggins - We did the one day rafting trip and had an amazing time. My son (12) and I were in the inflatable kayaks and mom rode in the raft. My son and I have very little experience kayaking but the guide was terrific and got us through every rapid, though not always in the kayak by the end. My son was hesitant on a few of the bigger rapids but our guide stuck right with him, somehow appeared right next to us as soon as we fell in, and was encouraging, positive, and patient the entire day. Especially nice was the mid-day break back at the office. By coming back to the start, we could go to the bathroom, leave stuff in the car we didn't need for the afternoon, get stuff we did need, check the phone, etc. Likely the best one-day rafting trip I've ever had!

Too much fun for words - 8 friends and family went on the day river trip down the Lower Salmon River. We are so lucky to have the Salmon River in our state and are able to ride the waves with Orange Torpedo! We had such a blast. 2 of our group had never rafted and were blown away. Great guides and price for the trip! the river

Fantastic rafting trip - Fantastic first time rafting trip with the family! We took our teenage daughters and they had a blast! Nice that the first half is more mellow and gets you prepared for the bigger rapids on the second half of the tour. Lunch was perfect, grilled burgers with a vegetarian option too. We had an excellent guide (Jessi) that was super patient and extremely helpful in taking us down the river. She took photos/video for us and made us feel safe and comfortable the entire time! Highly recommend Orange Torpedo!

A great trip even if Mother Nature says otherwise - The trip itself was great. Our guides Olivia and Jess knew what they were doing and kept us safe. The only part that was kind of a bummer was the down time from rapids and the intensity of the rapids. I totally understand that nature will take its own course and there is no magic switch to just increase or decrease the rapids, but it would have been nice to maybe hear more about the river or history during our trip while there was a lot of flat slow moments. I am clearly no expert on rafting, but I felt like we could have aimed for some of the bigger rapids at times and we kind of steered around them. Again, I really did have a great time and I would do it every day if I could, but I would definitely say that this trip is geared more towards a beginner thrill seeker rather than a total adrenaline junkie. I would love to come back on at a time when the same section of the river is firing on all cylinders just to get a better understanding of what the trip could have been. Everything other than that was great. Good food, nice people, and super attentive to helping.

Book with a different company - This was the worst guided rafting trip I have taken out of Riggins, I believe I have taken 8 different trips. First we waited around until 9:15 until we got going. Second, I have never been with a company that didn't provide water or at the very least have a cooler so we can put water in it. The water was low so there wasn't any extreme rapids and the company would not allow us to have drinks on the trip. This was my 3rd trip with Orange Torpedo and drinking was never prohibited. It was a birthday trip for my husband so we had planned on having a few drink. I have never been on a trip that would not allow drinking. We also felt like nothing was very organized. Book with a different company...
