A Day of Connection and Conservation

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as my wife and I found ourselves in a remote corner of Acapulco, ready to embark on an adventure that promised both tranquility and purpose. The AfroMexican Village Experience was a perfect escape from the bustling tourist spots, offering a chance to connect with nature and contribute to a cause close to my heart.

Our day began with a visit to a turtle rescue center, where we were introduced to the delicate process of releasing baby turtles into the ocean. As a surfer, the ocean is my playground, and being part of this conservation effort was a humbling experience. Watching those tiny creatures make their way to the sea, knowing that only a few would survive, was a poignant reminder of the fragility of marine life. The staff at the center shared their knowledge with passion, making us feel like part of their mission to protect these remarkable animals.

Riding the Waves of the Beach

After the turtle release, it was time to saddle up for a horseback ride along the stunning shores of Barra Vieja. My wife and I were the only ones on this part of the journey, accompanied by three friendly guides who ensured our ride was smooth and enjoyable. The horses were gentle and well-trained, making it easy for us to relax and take in the breathtaking views.

Our adventure concluded with a return to the village, where we were treated to a feast that tantalized our taste buds. The meal was a delightful blend of fish, shrimp, and chicken, seasoned with a secret mix of local herbs and spices. It was served just inches from the water, adding to the charm of the experience.
