The best way to see Iceland - Thoroughly recommended. Matt, who was our pilot, owns the company. When I made the first enquiry, he recommended going for the first day that we were in Iceland to maximise the chance of getting a flight in during our stay. Flights from the city centre airport tend to be earlier in the day as they pass close to the international airport when it is relatively quiet, so we took off at 10.15am after a short introduction to the helicopter. Noise-cancelling earphones mean that you can hear the pilot and talk to your fellow travellers. There's very little sense of movement - the earth drops away as you climb to around 1,000 feet. Travelling at 130mph means that you see a lot of the area around Reykjavik including settlements, farmland, aluminium smelters, geothermal powers stations and a number of volcanos and lava fields. Matt is super enthusiastic and keen for you to enjoy the whole experience. He also knows his stuff and is as happy explaining the geology as he is talking about the numerous instruments, screens and controls. My friend and I must have taken hundreds of photographs during the 50-minute trip. If you want the perfect complement to day trips in minibuses then this is it.

Unforgettable Helicopter Trip Over Iceland - Matthias, our pilot, was an absolute gem. His wealth of knowledge about the landscape and landmarks we flew over added an extra layer of depth to the experience. His skill and professionalism instilled confidence in our journey, allowing us to relax and fully immerse ourselves in the moment. Flying over Iceland during morning hours with beautiful sunrise is an experience that I will cherish forever. The views from above are simply breath-taking – from the rugged coastline to the snow-capped mountains, every moment offered a new and stunning perspective of this incredible country. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to experience such a magical adventure. The tranquillity of the morning, the beauty of the landscape, and the skill of our pilot combined to create a memory that will stay with me for a lifetime. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. If you have the chance to take a private helicopter trip over Iceland, seize it with both hands. It's an experience that will leave you speechless and longing for more. I, for one, will definitely be doing this again in the future. Thank you, Matthias, and thank you to the team for making this unforgettable experience. Also wanted to thank my amazing boss for making this happen!

Just amazing and wouldn’t have missed it for the world, the views are spectacular and the staff so helpful and friendly - This trip was amazing, for me it certainly was the trip of a lifetime (I’m old! 😂) and the views are spectacular. Right from doing the online enquiry the customer service was excellent. The young lady doing the bookings responded to my enquiry very promptly and advised that we could do a same day trip (our preference really) as the following day the weather forecast was looking uncertain. We did unfortunately get a bit lost looking for the venue and the local taxi driver didn’t seem to know where to go despite having a conversation with the company. We really were cutting it fine to arrive for our take off time (made it with a few minutes to spare but ideally should have been there 25minutes before as I was so stressed that we could have missed our take off slot) ) On arrival we were still greeted warmly and our profuse apologies for being late were brushed aside. Once we were airborne all stresses melted away as Matt the pilot was so friendly and knowledgeable putting us at ease immediately. It was my first trip in a helicopter and in spite of being almost 67 I was awestruck. Matt clearly loves his job and probably has one of the best jobs in the world. The weather was perfect so the views were very clear, we could see for miles. Matt took the time to point out the major sights and recent volcano eruptions and ensured all of us got a good view by turning the helicopter around so no one missed out. If you get the opportunity to do this trip I fully recommend you do so, yes it’s high cost but totally worth the expense as a family of 4 get the trip to themselves so in effect it’s a private tour.

Awesome views of Reykjavik and Thingvellir - Since the volcano was in danger of erupting, our original tour became a no fly zone. We rerouted to the north of Reykjavik which was quite a beautiful and interesting flight. Saw Thingvellir from above with a great view of the cracks from the tectonic plates. Also the geothermal water pipeline into town which was amazing. Lovely view of downtown and Hallgrimskirkja. Very new helicopter was smooth ride and quieter than most.

Wonderful Experience and Lovely People - I booked on to join a private tour with Volcano Heli as a solo traveller, hoping to nab a last minute space on my final day in Reykjavik. I happened to come to the country just as the volcano in Grindavik was threatening to erupt, so was unsure whether or not a flight would even go ahead (the tour flies right over the air space around the volcano). Volcano Heli kindly called me the day prior to the flight to confirm that it'd still be going ahead and sent over all the relevant information I'd need. Nice, simple and easy to understand. Somehow, I managed to drop my phone with all my ID and credit cards outside the airport without noticing, but thankfully, one of the very kind gentlemen working there spotted it and brought it back to me. I'd have been stranded without all that, so I can't thank him enough!!! The lady who came to pick us up in her car was also really lovely and friendly, full of smiles and enthusiasm. I wish I'd gotten everyone's name because they were all really nice people, but our pilot's name was Matt. He let us know that we wouldn't be flying over the volcano after all, as the air space had been closed that morning due to the imminent erruptiom, so instead, he would take us on a (slightly longer, yay!) flight to the east, overlooking the beautiful snow capped mountains and lava fields. You could instantly tell that Matt loves his job; he was super friendly, full of smiles and bursting with enthusiasm and excited energy; it really made the experience extra fun, seeing how passionate he was! Matt was very knowledgeable about the local area and after take off, he was more than happy to point out various infrastructure and landmarks, as well as highlight some of its history. He wasn't put off by my never-ending questions either and made sure to circle things, so that the passengers on both sides of the helicopter got a good look. The flight itself was a really smooth ride and even when we had one or two instances of turbulence, Matt was so calm, collected and professional that I barely even gave it a second thought. We were lucky with the light, as well as being just in time to see a sprinkling of snow on the mountain tops. And the landscapes? Well......you don't need me to tell you that Iceland is one of the most beautiful places on Earth! The entire flight from start to finish had me spellbound and it was worth every penny (or Krona)! Matt was also kind enough to take some pictures of us in front of the helicopter after landing and they even called me a taxi afterwards. They're a very thoughtful, kind and professional company and even without the volcano flight, this was definitely the highlight of my trip! Thank you all so very much for a wonderful day, Volcano Heli. Just when I thought Iceland couldn't get any more beautiful, you showed me how wrong I was! I would HIGHLY recommend Volcano Heli to anyone!

Volcanic helicopter tour in Reyjkvik - Flying over the erupting volcano and the area south of Reyjkvik was one of my greatest once-in-a-lifetime experiences. The terrain was even more extraordinary from above. Seeing the Presidents home, the colorful architecture in addition was cool. The rainbow as we returned to the city took our collective breaths away! Pilot and other staff were friendly, knowledgeable, skilled and organized. We loved every second!

Definately Recommend - This was a last minute decision because my son got very excited about the more recent volcanic eruption but there was no way we were going to hike 11 hours to see the edge of the flow. The copter fit 5 so it was the pilot, my son, myself and a mother and daughter. I kind of wish there was a tour guide other than the pilot. He was busy flying and flying is his game, it would have been nice to have a geologist along as well but I can see why the pilot had to play double duty (size of the helicopter). I'm very glad we added this to our Iceland adventures. If driving, check the directions to the location before you get going, it was a little confusing to find our way to the correct hanger which is up and around the back of the regional airport.
