Fun to do - Tour was very interesting. Well worth the trip. Walking sticks provided and helmets. Was chilly in the tunnel but not freezing. We went early July. It was very easy at the BSI terminal to find the tour bus. One side is arrivals and the other side is departures.

Beautiful - so different - caution taking the bus - The guide we had provided a great description of the many different aspects of the tunnel, how it was formed, some history and so much more. She also allowed everyone to stay and explore longer if they wanted to. They were also very cautious about safety including a special hard hat with a light. I got a lot of great photos. Caution - we added the optional bus trip to/from Reykjavik using Reykjavik Excursions from the BSI bus terminal. Although the total trip is marked as 3 hours total including the bus, when we asked the bus driver about our return time (due to getting back on a cruise ship) he said it's typically a total of 4-4.5 hours instead of the 3 that is quoted. After talking with the manager, they instructed the driver to get us (and others on the tour) back in time and stick to the 3 hours.

A gorgeous short hike - The lava tunnels were beautiful and really cool to learn about. Apparently during parts of the year they do movie screenings and concerts, which would be amazing to see!

The Lava Tunnel Tour - Raufarhólshellir- With to and fro travel from Reykjavik - Our guide, Laura, was excellent and made the experience truly memorable. It was fascinating to witness the remarkable natural formation of a lava cave—an incredible reminder of how cooling lava can shape the landscape over time. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, especially the moment when all lights were turned off, allowing us to experience complete darkness and the subtle sounds of water droplets echoing through the cave. It offered a powerful insight into the raw and silent beauty of Earth's geological processes.

Educational and Enjoyable! - This was a really great tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and able to share the science behind what we were seeing. The tunnel itself was more beautiful than expected. There were some ice formations that were very interesting as well.

The tour is short, about... - The tour is short, about an hour, but worth the time and cost. I have been in a lava tube in Hawaii and this was awesome in comparison. Excellent guide.

Cool experience - The Lava tunnel is very unique and a cool tour. Our guide Demetrius was very informative and funny! It was surprisingly cold down there so dress appropriately but it is an easy walk so no worries about that part. The only negatives were the communication about pick up wasn’t great and the bus ride home we went 30 minutes out of the way to pick up someone from a different tour.

Unique Experience - The lava tunnel tour was really interesting and our tour guide, Demetrius, was great! The walk is very easy so perfect for all levels. And heads up it gets very cold down there so dress appropriately. The bus portion was not the best- clean but the directions for pick up were unclear and we drove out of the way to drop someone on another tour

An interesting short half day trip from Reykjavik. - Would be of interest to anyone who wants to understand more about the formation of lava tunnels. The walk through the tunnel does require a basic degree of fitness and agility as a couple of hundred meters of the walk is over a slippery, rocky pathway. The extended version of the tour would most likely be of interest to those who are reasonably fit and have a strong interest in geology / vulcanology.

Impressing to see - The lava tunnel is amazing to see, it was a very good idea to visit it. Guide's explanations was funny and interesting, but a very fast English, so not uncomplicated to understand. Transfer was a bit confusing. Pickup point was not exactly clear. We switched busses at BSI Bus Terminal. On the way back we expected to do the same (we wanted to walk from BSI to Perlan Museum), but the bus took us directly to Skarfabakki cruise terminal, where we didn't want to be. So we had to wait until all the others were dropped off before we returned to BSI.
