This extensive tour showcases all the key attractions of southwest Iceland. It starts in the morning from Reykjavik accommodations with a drive to Thingvellir National Park, a former parliament site renowned for its seismic activity. The journey continues through the mountains to the area surrounding Lake Laugarvatn. The next destination is Geysir, the world’s most renowned hot spring, and its smaller neighbor, Strokkur, which erupts with a stunning display of blue water every few minutes. The tour then proceeds to Gullfoss, the majestic Queen of Icelandic waterfalls, and then to Friðheimar. The final stop is the volcanic crater, Kerið, before returning to Reykjavík via the picturesque village of Hveragerði.
The 2-hour horseback ride is conducted in small groups, offering personalized and friendly service. The tour covers 7-10 km, depending on the riders’ experience. It is suitable for both beginners and more experienced riders, with several routes available in the area. Riders can choose a scenic and smooth path along Ingólfsfjall Mountain or, for more experienced groups, a route by and in the Gljúfulá River. Both routes provide natural riding paths and a beautiful setting for horseback riding, allowing participants to become acquainted with the friendly Icelandic horse.
Return to your Reykjavík accommodations after the tour.
