Additional Information

The Golden Circle Tour takes you to three notable natural wonders of the country: Þingvellir National Park, a location where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are separating; an active geyser that powerfully sprays water and steam into the sky; and the remarkable Gullfoss Waterfall - a site where a glacial river dramatically plunges 32 meters into a canyon. As dusk sets in, we embark on a quest for the mystical and elusive Northern Lights. However, remember, the likelihood of this activity heavily relies on the weather forecast and visibility circumstances. And, keep in mind, it’s only during the cold winter months that the Aurora displays are observable.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Audio guide available in: English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Finnish Note: The Northern Lights are only visible over the winter months

Fantastic - The views and experience were so incredible, the bus, staff and service could have been awful and I would still recommend the trip. They were not awful though, the coach was comfortable, the guides knowledgeable and friendly, I have already advised friends and family to take the same trip. The northern lights aren't exactly what you may see in pro photos, but when I went they were easily visible to the naked eye, with a recognisable green tint and dancing across the sky.

Amazing trips from Reykjavík - The Golden Circle tour was fabulous, the guide provided in-depth knowledge of the sights. The Northern Lights trip was postponed due to weather conditions, but we were given 8 hours and rebooked for the next night without any fuss. We were so lucky to see the spectacle of the aurora the next night. Once again, the guide was knowledgeable and took us to a good spot to view the lights. We will be back!

Amazing experience!! - I highly recommend Reykjavik Sightseeing and their FANTASTIC team!!! All companies should be like this one! We booked 3 trips - South Coast, Northern Lights and Golden Circle with Snowmobile ride. All three of the trips were brilliant and well set out, the tour guides were so informative and told us really interesting information, the first guide was called Karen and the second trip we had Darren and Helki who were all brilliant. Really safe driving on the huge coaches and useful safety tips given throughout the day. We learnt so much. Unfortunately it was torrential rain for most of the time we were there and we were soaked and freezing despite our winter gear but still had a fantastic time which just shows how good they all were! Due to the bad weather our snow mobile ride was cancelled which we were absolutely gutted about but we called the office and spoke to Nora (I think) and she was amazing!!! She went out of her way to try and get the trip rearranged which she did and managed to book us on another day. We can’t thank her enough for this. Unfortunately due to the bad weather this one was cancelled too but that can’t be helped and Reykjavik sightseeing refunded us the money pretty much instantly! The communication from the whole team was really great, they let us know with plenty of time when the Northern lights tour was cancelled and let us rebook with no issues. The cancellations were due to the extreme weather which of course they could do nothing about and they handled this really well to get us rebooked. All buses turned up on time and left promptly which was good. Overall we would recommend any of the tours they were all so interesting and well described on the website. The guides and employees we spoke with really did make our trip the best! Thank you!

Excellent day & night trip experience - Brilliant day out, amazing sites despite the cold & wet. Our Golden Circle guide Darren & driver Hegli were excellent, helpful, informative, interesting, friendly & fun. Pick ups and drop offs easy and organised. Unfortunately the Northern Lights were a 'no show' but the few hours out is worth doing just for the experience. Again our guide Hulti(?) was friendly & informative and the help with camera settings really useful. Better luck with the lights next time.

A bit of a mixed bag. Worth doing but check out the details before you book - This is a trip in three parts! Part 1 - the Golden Circle tour was fantastic despite the incredibly cold weather. Our guide (Randi?) told us to put on everything on our last stop and I was glad we did. Timed well, enough time to see the sights and to get something to eat or drink. Really good commentary and useful insights into the way of life, living with earthquakes and volcanoes! Part 2 - Northern lights (1) We weren't aware that there was a 3 to 6 hour break between the Golden Circle and the Northern Lights. When we asked the guide what time we needed to arrive for the second part of the tour, we were told that we had to ask the hotel. We asked at the hotel and they told us to call Reykjavik Sightseeing which we did, were told it was a 9:30p.m. start at the bus station which was 25 minutes walk so we asked for a pick up at the nearest bus stop for 8 passengers. The minibus did not turn up, so one of the party called and the information had not been passed on. We wished we hadn't gone as it was clear from about 11p.m. that the clouds were too low. We walked the 25 minutes back to the hotel at 1:30 a.m. - it was very cold and dark and not too pleasant when you're not sure where you're going. Part 3- Northern lights (2) As we had not seen the lights we were able to re-book and called early in the morning. We gather many did the same but there were no spaces. Our guide Reni/Remy was terrific. He was informative, interesting and told us things that I would have been happy to pay extra to hear. With his expert guidance we felt confident in seeing the lights and although it wasn't exactly the experience we hoped for - we were really happy to see the green hues. He also took photos which we really appreciated - hence the 4 stars. Additionally - on this tour we were taken to our nearest bus stop which meant a 5 minute walk at 1:45 in the morning!! Very much appreciated in a strange city. In conclusion - if you are not booking directly with the company, make sure that you check with them what the plans are. We had a 5 hour break between the Golden Circle and Northern Lights tour and we were not told clearly that there was no pick up.

Uncomfortable and disappointing coach. - Great trip, great guide BUT spoiled. My wife and I did two tours. The tour guides were both friendly and informative. However the buses were not up to the standard that you advertise! Neither bus could be described as luxury. Both had the same problems. The legroom was not adequate. I’m only 5’10” nut there was not enough room. I spent hours on both trips with my knees jammed into the back of the seat in front, or had to sit sideways. which is painful and uncomfortable. The other problem was that only half the seats had USBs, and most of them didn’t work, so our phones ran out of battery charge with the result that on the Golden Circle tour we missed some photo opportunities.
