Highlights
  • Aurora Reykjavik - Take a walk through history and learn how people and cultures around the world saw the Northern Lights via legends and myths connected to this amazing phenomenon. In our multimedia exhibition we offer interactive displays as well as a specially equipped
    photo booth
where you can learn how to adjust your camera’s settings should you want to try your hand at capturing the auroras yourself.

The high point of your visit to the center will certainly be our theatre where a continuously running HD film is playing throughout the day. Projected onto a 7-meter wide screen, you can sit back and enjoy this 25-minute film that features some of the most magnificent auroral displays seen over Iceland. The film is accompanied by soft music in surround-sound, making this a relaxing and restful experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Safety pin - I loved it, everything was very clear and organized. The videos they show are spectacular. Very friendly people. They have the option of taking photos that they later send by email, having a nice coffee and they have souvenirs for sale.

A wonderful visit to the Aurora Museum - We toured the museum and found it to be very informative and worth the cost. They have beautiful pictures, postcards and souvenirs for sale. I highly recommend a visit to this museum.

Brilliant - We learnt all about the lights and saw diagrams and lots of pictures that made us feel has if we had actually seen the lights. The VR headset was very good and the complementary coffee after very welcome as we were made to feel.

Nice museum - Great museum with lovely show of amazing NL photos from all over Iceland. Easy to read boards. Nice touch for free tea at the end. We used the VR headsets which was interesting. Sadly for me I felt nauseous and headachey for the next few days, googled it and it is quite a phenomenon if your eyes strain easily or you suffer motion sickness! My husband was fine. It was a long walk from our hotel though, so allow enough time if you're staying quite centrally.

The centre is very informative with friendly and welcoming staff The VR headsets at the end of the tour are an added bonus. There’s a lovely gift shop to for anyone who wants something to remember their visit with 😀

Informative and meaningful museum, staff willing to go above and beyond - To begin, the museum was great. Super informative preparation for seeing the lights. You’ll learn so much that will make the experience of seeing them much more important and meaningful. Our favorite part was learning about the ways that different cultures have interpreted the lights. More, Anna helped to set us up for the self-guided museum tour and was there to make us a warm beverage as soon as we finished. She has worked as tour guide, and went through an in-depth list of activities and stuff for us to find along our car drive across the country, which was well beyond her job description and something we very much appreciated. She was kind, engaging, and not only a fantastic employee, but a fantastic presence to come across after our long day. Our experience was truly a 10 out of 10 and we will recommend this to anybody in Reykjavík before they go to see the northern lights.

Impressive displays - A small centre with informative displays. Impressive cinema and VR displays of the Northern Lights. Friendly staff. Free coffee. Wish we had been able to see the real thing, but the weather was not good for our stay.

It's small bit educational! - 2024-March. We purchased our tickets online. There were parking spaces available in front of the facility. It wasn't busy, but I waited for about 3 minutes for a staff to show up at the front desk. I believe he was by himself today. He was nice. He checked our confirmation and allowed us to start our tour. You have to scan the QR code for the audio guide so you can hear the narrative for each exhibit. The facility was small. You would be able to go through everything in less than an hour. The Northern Lights slideshow that plays on the big screen is quite short. At the end, there are VR glasses you can put on. You sit down in a little cafe and watch the Northern Lights. You get a free coffee or a tea. There's also a small souvenir shop. The restrooms were clean. There's a wall with a world map that has pins that show where guests have traveled. It's a small facility for the price. Have a great tour!

Good to do if you have the time but not a must - Good thing to do if your in reykjavik and have time but not a must. We spent about an hour here learning about the science behind the nothern lights. We also got to try virtual goggles. Free tea/coffee of your choice at the end. It gave us good tips for chasing the lights.

Price/performance weak. - Rather poor for the money. Iceland itself is not cheap, but sometimes you really get something for yourself. Not in this case. It is really small, the explanations (audio) are told rather sleepily and there is noise pollution everywhere. So when you are in one segment, you can still hear music from the other room and, in the worst case, the audio guides of the others because they are using their speakers instead of headphones. A few euros more and you can save yourself this museum and go straight to the Perlan Museum. There is a much more elegant explanation of Aurora.
