A fun experience! - A wonderful experience! First time snorkeling and the staff were very friendly! Lights snacks and sandwiches were much appreciated after spending time in the water. Massage was a nice quick break from other activities.

110% worth the visit - An amazing experience. The staff are lovely and well organised with the whole process. Drinks as you arrive, then you are told to take a seat while others arrive. Once everyone has arrived you take a boat to the platform/enclosure. You are provided with equipment, drinks, sun loungers, snacks for throughout the few hours you are there. You are given a quick talk about rules and then you are free to enjoy activities. You are welcome to enjoy a lovely massage, sunbath, snorkel with the fish, (YES we get to throw bread into the sea and the fish come up to you to eat, and actually it’s amazing, it’s also amazing to get some out to the reef to see the smaller fish come up too, which there are a variety) in the enclosure there are stingrays which you are able to pet and there is also an enclosure with nurse sharks (I have seen many comments about the stingrays and sharks looking half dead, however this is not the case. They swim around and nurse sharks live well in captivity due to being less active than other shark species, so smaller spaces do not bother them). Anyway, we as a couple thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we were able to paddle board and kayak and just do whatever we wanted too. We got some amazing photos with our phone under water. Another point to point out, we were NOT bombarded with extra sales and at the end when people had photos taken by the camera man they could purchases pictures if they wanted, and we’re NOT being pressured at all to make a purchase. Worth every penny, if you read up what to expect, it’s definitely what you get plus more. Thanks to the lovely team for an amazing experience.

Favorite excursion - This was our favorite excision we did in the Dominican! There were so many different types of fish to see when snorkeling. A guide took us around the reef and pointed things out to us. Both of the Juan’s were great showing us everything to see. My boys loved touching/swimming with the sting rays and the nurse sharks. We also used the paddle boarding, water hammocks and massages.

Multiple activities in one place - This was a unique excursion. You are taken by boat to a platform in the ocean. There are areas fenced off with nurse sharks & sting rays that you can swim with. There are kayaks & paddle boards to use. You can also snorkel all around the platform. There are some beautiful fish there. They advertise their power snorkels, but there are only two & it didn't seem like people were having much luck with them working. They also offer 10 minute massages & sandwiches, smoothies, soft drinks, water & other snacks. This is all included with your excursion price. You are free to roam around & pick the activities you want to do for as long as you want. There are also lounge chairs if you just want to lay around.

Lotsa Cool Fish - Eduardo Pablus with Amstar and was spot on with this excursion. Small boat took us to man made island where we snorkeled & saw nurse sharks & sting rays. Husband saw blue tangs as well. The only disappointment was the food & no booze.

Decently fun, but don't count on the power snorkel - Here's the deal. The platform that you're on is beautiful, steady in the waves, and they provide some shade. One of the staff members, Juan, took me out with the life raft because I'm not a very strong swimmer and he helped me have a fantastic time seeing the nurse sharks and the rays. Without him, this would have been a one star experience for me. The biggest selling point for us was use of the power snorkel equipment, because the waves out there get pretty strong and you have to be a really strong swimmer to get from point A to point B. I was really excited to have something to help me move through the water. Unfortunately once you're on the structure, you're only allowed to use the power snorkel engine thing when you're in the nurse shark pen. You don't get to use it to look at the reef around the structure, you don't get to use it to swim anywhere else. Had I known that, I would have negotiated a lot harder on how much I was paying for this. It is still very beautiful, and seeing the animals was nice.

Massage is not real - I’m disappointed in what they consider a massage. I go monthly for massages and this was a major disappointment. It seems as if they bought a $5 roller and roll your body as a piece of dough. Hence, my calf muscle was injured and it took a professional massage to undo the pain that lasted 3 days. On a positive note, the snorkeling was fun. I recommend either changing your advertising or train the girls appropriately.

Tour is Over-Priced & Mis-Represented - We were told by the Otium tour representative on our resort that the Reef Explorer excursion included a 45 min. massage. After my friends complained that it was way too short, I used the stopwatch on my phone to find out that it was less than 15 mins.! In addition, there is no coral here. It's seagrass only. The fish are attracted to the bread that they throw into the water. Please note that the snorkel equipment is very basic so if it's the least bit wavy or windy, the sea water will go over your snorkel and into your mouth. The newer snorkels have balls in them that prevent this from happening. This is a very expensive 4 hour tour at $149 USD when you're unable to receive the full massage, snorkel for any length of time or use the torpedo to propel you through the water with the nurse sharks!

Skip this event; it’s just a sad dead reef - This was a bust for us. They shuttle you out to this metal scaffolding on the premise it is fabulous snorkeling and a series of activities. That is not what we found. Instead, the reef surrounding the area is dead, they chum the water with bread which brings some fish in. They advertise swimming with nurse sharks and sting rays but after swimming down, we found 3 poor nurse sharks facing the corner of the artificial netting holding them in, they just laid there staring at the corner. I am not a marine fanatic or anything but this was just plain sad. Dead reef, half dead nurse sharks and 1 stingray. The motorized torpedos were also propaganda as they barely worked and no instruction was given to help figure it out. All of the ‘activities’ took about an hour and then you are trapped there for the entire 5 hours while they try to sell you photos. Big let down; skip it
