September 2023 - The tour was very organized. I was picked up on time and we went directly to the site. The group was big but our guides Casper and Daniel were very attentive of us. The two were very nice. I loved the view of Landmannalaugar 🧡

Andres light up our full day tour in heavy rain - The Super jeep day tour had been what we had longed for in our 8-day tour. However it didn’t go smooth as the jeep got some mechanic trouble right after we started driving for 5 minutes. Andres made the right call to make the way back to the headquarter n changed for another jeep. He put safety as the 1st priority n always reminded warmly “not to trust the edges”.😬 The strong wind n heavy rain was a challenge to us and we were deeply appreciated to his caring concern - “the set time for each spot did matter but safety stays the prime concern. “ Andres even brought us to a place not included in the itinerary n we all agreed that it’s a pity for those who didn’t hv the chance to get there , Rangarping ytra . The view is breathtaking!

PERFECT DAY - The Landmannalaugar hiking tour was absolutely wonderful and I cannot fault the experience. The bus was right on time and everything was very smooth and everyone felt in safe hands. The journey to landmannaluagar for me was equally as enjoyable as the actual hike. The scenes are unbelievable like you're on a different planet and a massive bonus was driving through filming locations of different films including Interstellar. The hike is a great challenge and lots of support is given by the instructors for breaks, points you can wait and going slower if needed. Our two instructor, Matt and Quique, were wonderful. They told us so many genuinely interesting facts, a range of comedy, inside knowledge about Iceland, history, debunking rumours, what it's actually like to live as an Icelander, and also lots of recommendations about other must do trips, food places, drink bars, walks etc we should do during our trip or if we were to return. During the journey Matt used a microphone so he could be heard perfectly. He talks in intervals so it's a perfect balance too. The driver Kristoff is incredibly skilled also. Make sure to wear really good shoes because the floor can be slippy, narrow and steep. Wear layers too because the weather changes quickly in Iceland, and considering you are hiking you can get hot. I personally didnt go in the hot springs but I heard it's incredible. There is opportunity half-way for a toilet break and to buy food and drink but we brought our own and I do recommend this. You can leave you food in the coach and collect it after the hike so dont worry about the weight. There are toilets at Landmannalauger which you use before the hike, but once the hike begins there won't be opportunity until you return but this wasn't an issue for anyone. There is a place to also get food and drink at Landmannalauger but the workers do break through the day so it may not be open. There's lots of stops to take the best pictures. The group you hike with is no bigger than 15 which is a really nice number. Really recommend this tour if you're wanting to visit Landmannalaugar, the guides are really thoughtful, even making sure we got back in time so that the food places were still open. Thank you!!!

Wonderful experience - We booked a tour to landmannalaugar with arctic adventures. It was one of the last days the roads towards landmannalaugar were open. We were very lucky. At first, we wanted to go with the shuttle bus from Reykjavik to Landmannalaugar. However those busses are not operating after this time of the year. We are really happy we have chosen to join this guided tour. Our guide Matt and driver Kristof offered the full experience. Matt was really enthusiastic about everything he told us and he told us many fun facts about Iceland. Landmannalaugar surroundings are really pretty. We did a hike and we bathed in the hot spring pool. It is definitely on our bucket list to do the 4 days hike there.

Amazing 4 day Laugevegur trek from Landmannalaugar to Thorsmork !! - We did the 4 day Laugevegur trek with Artic Adventures in the last week of August 2023. Day 1 - Pickup was in Reykjavic. By noon, we were in Landmannalaugar, after a couple of stops. Our guide was Halldor Dagur Josefsson, but we called him HD. He cooked some lunch for us and then we went off to climb Blahnukur, a tall blue-black mountain in Landmannalaugar. It was rainy, windy and a challenging climb. It was steep in parts. After that, some of us soaked in the hot spring river nearby the hut- this was heavely after spending the last few hours in rain and cold conditions. We got a sumptuous dinner and crammed into the bedding in the hut. The huts are heated and warm. My son was on the trek, but part of the tent group. Day 2 - We started by 8:30 am or so, after packing lunch/snack for ourselves (sandwiches and trail mix). We were to hike 15 miles (24 km) today. The first part of the hike was a lot of climbing uphill till we reached our lunch spot at Hrafntinnusker hut at half way point. We walked mainly through a geothermal area and some snow fields (late August). The views were beautiful. After lunch and restrooms, we headed to complete the second part of the 15 mile hike. It was a whole bunch of climbing up and down, some very steep slopes. The view of Alftavatn lake was mesmerizing. We were blessed with a lovely day with no rain. The last mountain to get down to the hut was very steep and I got some knee pain that made it hard. It took me a long time to get down that steep mountain. We had the first river crossing and it was quite fun to walk through the river. After that, we walked the remaining 4 km to the Alftavatn hut. The hut was nice and spacious and we had our own beds, which was nice. Again, HD made us a yummy dinner with some of us helping him. Day 3- We started the day a bit late, since it was raining and we were waiting for the rain to go. Eventually we started the 9 mile (15 km) hike in mild drizzle but soon it cleared up to sunny skies. We had 2 river crossings this day. The second river was very, very cold and fast flowing ! After this, we started walking through black sand desert with beautiful moss-covered green mountains. I loved this day - the scenery was amazing and the day was perfect ! The lunch spot was a beautiful waterfall. The views on this day was simple amazing ! We got to the Emstrur hut in about 6-7 hours with lots of break and time to take pictures. HD cooked some yummy food again. Day 4 - Some of us started the day early to walk the final 9 (15 km) miles. We were blessed with more sunny weather. Most of the walk, we had views of the 3 glaciers in the background. It was a warm day and we could finally see some vegetation - shrubs and bushes. Also some sheep. The scenery each day was so different and unique and beautiful. Towards the end, there was one river crossing - the river was very fast flowing but thankfully, didnt have much volume of water. After that, it was a 3-4 km climb through a small forest to Thorsmork. It was mixed feelings when the trek ended - happy for my knees but sad it was over ! The bus picked us up and dropped us in Reykjavic by 8 pm. They had some issues with delivering our luggage on the last day, but they quickly corrected the situation and had the luggage delivered to us in Reykjavik early in the morning. HD fed us all very well. Breakfast was yummy oatmeal with fruits, buttermilk and cookies. We packed lunches daily - sandwiches with peanut butter, nut butters, jams, meat, spreads etc - lots of options. Dinner was cooked with some or all of us assisting and there was always salad also. Both my son and I are vegetarian and they fed us good food with some fake meat called oomph meat, which was very delicious. As a woman, I was worried about lack of bathrooms, but there were plenty of rocks to use on the way that gave sufficient privacy. We were a group of 16 (varying age groups) and it was so much fun to hang out with all of them. The guide gave us plenty of freedom to do what we want and never rushed us along. If you love nature and amazing views, I highly recommend this 4 day trek with Arctic Adventures and our guide, HD. HD was fun and entertaining and very caring of all of us. He took good care of me for my knee hurting, bandaged up my knee, gave me knee strap etc. He was also an excellent cook and had some good stories to tell ! In Summary, Day 2 was the hardest, with the longest trek and lots of up and down and many of them steep, the last hill down to Alftavatn was the steepest. Day 3 was mostly flat and fairly easy. Day 4 had some steep ups and downs but mostly easy. Overall, I feel very blessed to see the amazing sceneries of Iceland and to have good weather and be able to complete the 35 mile (54 km) trek. Hope I have given sufficient information that is helpful to others looking to do this trek. I would do it again, if I ever get the chance !

Fantastic Lord of the Rings Tour - We just spent a fantastic day with our wonderful tour guides Matt and Quique, and driver extraordinaire, Christoff. Matt, our lead guide, was especially knowledgeable, entertaining and passionate about all things Iceland. We hiked through beautiful lava fields, up a mountain with tremendous views and ended our day with a long soak at a spectacular natural hotspring. This is an excursion not to be missed.

Epic in every sense of the word! - We experienced extreme weather for most of the trip, making our trek more quite difficult - sideways hail and gale force winds - and somewhat harrowing, but nonetheless fantastic. Our guide Matt expertly and confidently led us through worsening storm conditions to the safety of the huts. And made us fabulous meals, accommodating a wide variety of food restrictions. In spite of the storms, we were still able to see the incredible scenery. I am SO glad we did this tour - one of the best experiences of my life!

Beautiful views - We wanted to visit Landmannalaugar to see a different part of Iceland, and we were not disappointed. The hike to the top was a great workout and the views were worth the approximately hour long climb. My one criticism is that we moved at a very fast pace, and were unable to stop for as many photos as I would have liked because I didn't want to risk losing sight of the guide.
