Airport-Pinnawala-Kandy

Pinnawala - On the way from the Airport, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (approximately a 2.5-hour drive) to see baby elephants roaming in their foster home, being bottle-fed and bathed by their human caregivers. This sanctuary is home to over 100 elephant orphans and is the most popular elephant attraction, offering a close-up view of these magnificent creatures. Pinnawala is located about 75km from Colombo towards Kandy. The orphanage is open from 8:30 am to 5:45 pm. Visitors can interact with elephants during their scheduled feeding and bathing times. If interested, you can bottle-feed baby elephants, but this requires advance booking.

Kandy - After visiting Pinnawala, continue to Kandy, a 1.5-hour drive through scenic green landscapes. Kandy, the last Royal Capital of Sri Lanka, is a major tourist destination rich in cultural diversity. Immerse yourself in the city by visiting ancient temples, enjoying cultural performances, and watching dance shows.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - The city’s main attraction and the most sacred temple, housing one of Buddha’s teeth. Up to 12 different folk and traditional dances are performed by the Kandy Lake Club dance troupe within an hour. It’s recommended to book seats in advance to comfortably enjoy the performance while savoring the snacks and drinks served.

Kandyan Art Association - Kandy is synonymous with Sri Lankan arts and crafts more than any other place in the country. It’s likely the best place to purchase most of the handicrafts produced in Sri Lanka, with numerous shops catering to tourists. You can watch local crafts come to life at the Art Association.

Kandy-Nuwara Eliya

Pedro Tea Factory - After breakfast in Kandy, head towards Nuwara Eliya. Situated around 2000 meters above sea level, it offers a stunning mountain panorama surrounding a wide valley. Nuwara Eliya is the heart of Sri Lanka, the main hill resort surrounded by lush tea plantations. Enjoy activities like golfing, horse riding, boating, hiking, and visiting a tea factory.
