The Kootenay Half Day Trip offers our guests a family friendly, fun, and scenic adventure down the beautiful Kootenay River. With aqua blue water, never ending mountain sky lines and memories to last a lifetime. This trip is perfect for those new to whitewater rafting, or those who want to experience the water, but not big whitewater. With fun class I-III rapids this trip is beautiful and exciting all in one.
Here at Kootenay River Runners we are all about having fun, but we equally focus on safety and quality. Our guides are trained thoroughly and certified in swift water rescue and wilderness first aid. They get to know the rivers inside and out so they can provide you with an experience you will be talking about for years to come. Our gear is updated regularly, not only for safety, but for the comfort of our guests too!
- Minimum age is 5 years old
- Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund.
- Do not bring jewelry, valuables, or cameras (unless waterproof).

Fun Way to Spend a Day! - We did the full day experience, and it was awesome! Our guides - Tyler and Quinton, were amazing - cracking jokes and keeping us all entertained for the entire day. Kdis were still giggling about them later that night. Very easy to talk to as well as extremely knowledgeable about the areas we rafted. We all felt safe in their hands! Scenery was beautiful and waterfall was exceptional.
Q - keep rocking that mullet and best of luck on your new adventure!

A Great Family Day Trip - This was actually a full day. Met at office at 830 am and returned just before 5pm. I will keep this short and sweet - it was an awesome day! I wasn’t sure how my 9 and 12 year old would handle the day but they both did very well!
I cannot thank our river guide Tyler enough. He was funny, engaging and great with all the kids. Thank you to him for keeping our son engaged with Pokemon conversations :)
The views are beautiful! It was really a wonderful experience for us!

Enjoy the Kootenay River and Beat the Heat With a Splash Through Whitewater - The group was fun and informative right from the get-go. Katie entertained us on our roughly 45 minute bus ride to where we launched into the river…luckily she ended up being our tour guide as well. She was accommodating to all on her boat, especially the younger children that loved the attention.
The 27km trip down the river went quickly and she knows her craft well. It was interesting to hear of her life back home in Glasgow, Scotland and there’s no doubt she’s planted the seed for a future visit in many of our group. Note that this extended half-day tour option was only necessitated by changes upstream due to fire and may not be offered forever.
The trip wound down with a beautiful stop at the base of a waterfall and a slow moving stretch of the river where anyone daring enough could jump in the river for a quick swim in the cold mountain water.
I’d highly recommend the River Runners for their expertise, attention to their clients and general fun-living and good nature. A great time was had by all.

Awesome rafting - Fantastic rafting experience, we took our 11 year daughter with us and the ride was exciting but also suitable for her age. The team who guided us were knowledge and entertaining and provided an all round great experience, highly recommend it!

Excellent experience - Excellent experience, kids 8 and 5 really enjoyed it. Tyler was an excellent guide made the day really fun for everyone with his group.

Highly recommend! - Such a great time! All the staff, Tyler, Jacob, and Brooke were very professional and friendly. Our raft guide TYLER was amazing and went ABOVE AND BEYOND so that we can have a fun (and safe) time!
