Chefchaouen is Beautiful. The Trip There and Back Isn't - Chefchaouen is a beautiful city and is definitely worth the visit. We absolutely enjoyed our time there. So why rate it 3 stars and not 5? There are a few things to keep in mind. The Viator price you pay is for the car and driver only. The driver is not permitted by law to conduct a tour of the city. If you'd like a tour you have to hire a separate guide. Our driver contacted a local guide (Ibraham) who was really good. You can tour Chefchaouen on your own but I wouldn't recommend it. You may miss the most interesting parts. The ride from Rabat ito Chefchaouen is nearly 4 hours each way. This means you have limited time to visit the city. Moroccan drivers are very impatient and take a lot of chances, even during foggy weather. The ride made us very uneasy at times.
