Azerbaijan has recently gained recognition in the winter tourism sector. New winter tourism complexes have been established in Shahdag and Tufandag.

Mount Shahdagh, a peak in the Greater Caucasus range, is situated in the Gusar district of Azerbaijan, near the Russian border. The mountain stands at an elevation of 4,243 meters above sea level. Archaeological findings at the mountain’s base reveal prehistoric cave dwellings, indicating human habitation for over 9,000 years.

The Shahdag Winter Tourism Complex caters to both novice and experienced skiers. Your guide will assist you in setting up rental equipment and provide optional lessons. The tour also includes visits to Mestdergah waterfall and Qecresh forest for sightseeing.

The best tour guide ever! - We went from baku all the way up to shahdag with artunj from Azerbaijan guides. Could not have chosen a better company. Artunj is just the nicest guy who made a very long trip very enjoyable! His friendliness and his knowledge compared with a good portion of humour made this trip one to remember. We had a wonderful lunch break on the way in an authentic Azerbaijanian restaurant and not some tourist rip off which made the whole trip even better. Thank you so much artunj for a wonderful experience!

Shahdag Ski Resort - We had an absolute blast of a time in Shahdag! A few hours drive away from Baku, it is a must visit if you love winter activities. The views are beautiful and there are lots of different activities to do from skiing to paragliding but I’d recommend the Shahdag Coaster the most! It is a must do that you shouldn’t miss! We took a day trip, however you can even stay there. If you’re going for a day trip don’t forget to take snacks with you because most of the shops there were overpriced as it’s a tourist spot.
