HIKING QUILOTOA CRATER LAKE
Laguna Quilotoa - Begin the Ecuador Multisport adventure with a scenic 3-hour drive from Quito to the Andes, along the Avenue of the Volcanoes. This journey leads to Quilotoa, the highlight of the Ilinizas Ecological Reserve. Nestled among lush green and golden mountains, this stunning turquoise Crater Lake is a true treasure. Enjoy a one-hour hike down into the crater. At the bottom, there’s an option to rent a kayak for a paddle on the lake, offering breathtaking 360-degree views. After soaking in this natural wonder, hike back up, or opt for a mule ride. Once at the top, enjoy lunch and explore the local handicraft and paintings market before heading to the Hacienda for an overnight stay.
HIKE TO COTOPAXI GLACIERS
Cotopaxi National Park - After acclimatizing at Quilotoa, prepare for the next challenge: climbing to the Cotopaxi glacier. Start the day with a refreshing cup of coca tea, believed by locals to help prevent altitude sickness, while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Cotopaxi National Park. Then, embark on the trail, starting at around 15,000 feet and ascending to nearly 17,000 feet. The steep trail takes about two hours to complete.
Baños - In the afternoon, travel to Baños de Agua Santa, a charming town nestled between towering mountain ridges and surrounded by cascading waterfalls. Baños is filled with delightful restaurants and is perfect for an evening out.
BIKING AT THE LLANGANATES
La Casa del Arbol - In the afternoon, visit the famous “swing at the end of the world” at Casa del Arbol. Challenge yourself to take a ride and soar above the trees and into the clouds. If time permits, there may be an opportunity for zip lining.
CANYONING IN THE AMAZON
El Pailón del Diablo - Start the day by visiting Pailon del Diablo, a powerful waterfall nestled between canyon walls.
Llanganates - Then, enjoy a scenic drive into the Amazon basin, a biodiverse ecosystem teeming with various plant and animal species. Savor a traditional lunch, followed by an exploration on foot of one of the area’s spectacular canyons. Afterward, enjoy a special treat by a bonfire, learning to make chocolate fondue. Cacao is a significant export for the country, producing some of the world’s finest chocolate, a sweet way to end the day!
RAFTING JATUNYACU
Jatunyacu River - This day is the most thrilling of the Multisport Ecuador adventure, as you paddle down the Jatunyacu River. This class III river originates from the Llanganates Mountains. Legend speaks of a hidden Inca treasure in this area, yet to be discovered despite many explorers’ efforts. Enjoy a picnic on the riverbank, followed by a one-hour drive to your lodge for relaxation by the pool. In the evening, savor a delicious dinner, then embark on a night adventure to search for amphibians and insects.
CAVING AT THE TEMPLE OF CEREMONY – BACK TO QUITO
Tena - In the morning, take a short ten-minute car ride to the nearby forest. Visit Templo de Ceremonia, a site known by the local Kichwa indigenous people for ancestral rituals involving Ayahuasca and connections with Pachamama (Mother Earth). Enter a cave where a local guide will share more about this special place. Later, enjoy a traditional local lunch, then begin the return journey to Quito. Upon arrival, there’s an optional group dinner to say goodbye and share trip memories.

This Multisport Ecuador tour takes place in two different regions, traversing through the heights of the Andes, with its spectacular volcanoes, down into the lush Amazon basin. This is the ideal combination for guests who enjoy adventures with a wide variety of activities. This tour includes activities such as hiking into a crater lake, exploring a cave, canyoning in the jungle, paddling rapids in the amazon and hiking to glaciers. Join us for 6 days of pure adventure and adrenaline as we immerse ourselves in nature and make memories that will last a lifetime!
- Optional Briefing: The day before your tour, one of the trip leaders will meet you at the meeting point hotel lobby (to be advised in your voucher of services) for a welcome briefing at around 6:00 PM. At this time, details and questions you may have regarding the adventure will be discussed.
- Driving time can take more than expected in Ecuador, as it is a small country with roads meandering through the Andes mountains. We assure your comfort during transit no matter the size of the group.
- Level of Activity: This trip is considered as 3 out of 5. No prior experience is required and your guides will always brief you about safety and proper use of gear on every leg of the trip. There will be a transport support for the majority of the activities in the case that someone wants to take a break or just wants to relax.
- We do recommend traveling light for this expedition. A duffel bag of 50 litters for your luggage and a backpack of 20 litters for daily activities should be enough. In Ecuador, the weather can change drastically especially when you are moving from the Andes to the Amazon.
- Guides: All our guides have a professional background from the Tourism University; this means they have a degree in guiding, so their knowledge and skills when leading a group are top-notch.
- Inform yourself about food safety when traveling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precaution to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat ‘street food’, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).
- It is important to have valid travel and medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
- The operator reserves the right to change the itinerary without previous notice due to weather conditions, availabilities, National Park regulations or notifications and unforeseeable circumstances.
- Please bring your own rain poncho. In the Amazon, the weather could change suddenly in the rainforest and you might get wet.
- Please take with you some plastic bags, to protect your Camera and important documents from the rain in the Amazon. Also, a headlight, since it can get very dark during the night.
- Accommodation is based on number of travelers, if you are traveling with a group, you will be sharing rooms (single rooms require an extra fee).
