HIKING QUILOTOA CRATER LAKE
Laguna Quilotoa - Embark on an exciting Ecuador multisport journey with a picturesque drive along the “Avenue of the Volcanoes” to the breathtaking Quilotoa Volcano. Descend into the crater to reach the mesmerizing turquoise Quilotoa Lagoon, where kayaking on its tranquil waters awaits. The ascent back up, at 13,000 feet, is both challenging and fulfilling—mules are available if assistance is needed. After the hike, savor a traditional Ecuadorian lunch and explore a local artisan market renowned for its vibrant tapestries. Conclude your day at a charming Andean hacienda, a working organic farm with alpacas and llamas.
HIKE TO COTOPAXI GLACIERS
Cotopaxi National Park - Following breakfast, proceed to Cotopaxi National Park for an extraordinary hike up one of the world’s highest active volcanoes. A brief drive leads you to the park entrance, then up to nearly 15,000 feet, where your hike commences. Climb the steep volcanic trail to the base camp, and if weather permits, continue to 16,000 feet for breathtaking views. Along the route, observe wild horses, bulls, and possibly even condors. After the hike, enjoy lunch and continue to Baños, where you can unwind in soothing volcanic hot springs.
BIKING AT THE LLANGANATES
KAYAKING IN THE AMAZON
El Pailón del Diablo - Prepare for an early start into the heart of the Amazon! Begin with a hike to the magnificent Pailón del Diablo Waterfall. Then, a scenic 2.5-hour drive takes you to the Arajuno River, where a picnic and safety briefing precede your kayaking adventure. Paddling on the gentle Class I river, you’ll encounter vibrant wildlife and lush rainforest scenery. After two hours, arrive at a serene riverside glamping site for dinner and a special evening with a local shaman.
KAYAKING AROUND ARAJUNO RIVER
Rio Arajuno - Start the day with a sunrise canoe ride to a clay lick, where parrots gather for essential minerals—an unforgettable natural spectacle! After breakfast, kayak to a local school and community for cultural exchange and games with the children. Your visit supports a tech project we’ve helped establish there. Continue paddling downstream before visiting a Wildlife Sanctuary to spot monkeys and tropical birds. Later, a local family at Llanganates National Park welcomes you for lunch, followed by a medicinal plant hike, an exciting canyoning adventure, and a hands-on cooking class featuring traditional food and chocolate fondue.
NATURAL LAGOONS RESERVE
Tena - After breakfast, visit a Natural Lagoons Reserve, where you can swim and relax in these pristine waters. Enjoy lunch here. For those seeking more adventure, an optional Class III rafting trip is available (at an additional cost). In the afternoon, begin the journey back to Quito, arriving around 6:00 PM. This Multisport Ecuador tour takes place in two different regions, traversing through the heights of the Andes, with its spectacular volcanoes, down into the lush Amazon basin. This is the ideal combination for guests who enjoy adventures with a wide variety of activities. This tour includes activities such as hiking into a crater lake, exploring a cave, canyoning in the jungle, paddling rapids in the amazon and hiking to glaciers. Join us for 6 days of pure adventure and adrenaline as we immerse ourselves in nature and make memories that will last a lifetime!
- Optional Briefing: The day before your tour, one of the trip leaders will meet you at the meeting point hotel lobby (to be advised in your voucher of services) for a welcome briefing at around 6:00 PM. At this time, details and questions you may have regarding the adventure will be discussed.
- Driving time can take more than expected in Ecuador, as it is a small country with roads meandering through the Andes mountains. We assure your comfort during transit no matter the size of the group.
- Level of Activity: This trip is considered as 3 out of 5. No prior experience is required and your guides will always brief you about safety and proper use of gear on every leg of the trip. There will be a transport support for the majority of the activities in the case that someone wants to take a break or just wants to relax.
- We do recommend traveling light for this expedition. A duffel bag of 50 litters for your luggage and a backpack of 20 litters for daily activities should be enough. In Ecuador, the weather can change drastically especially when you are moving from the Andes to the Amazon.
- Guides: All our guides have a professional background from the Tourism University; this means they have a degree in guiding, so their knowledge and skills when leading a group are top-notch.
- Inform yourself about food safety when traveling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precaution to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat ‘street food’, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).
- It is important to have valid travel and medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
- The operator reserves the right to change the itinerary without previous notice due to weather conditions, availabilities, National Park regulations or notifications and unforeseeable circumstances.
- Please bring your own rain poncho. In the Amazon, the weather could change suddenly in the rainforest and you might get wet.
- Please take with you some plastic bags, to protect your Camera and important documents from the rain in the Amazon. Also, a headlight, since it can get very dark during the night.
- Accommodation is based on number of travelers, if you are traveling with a group, you will be sharing rooms (single rooms require an extra fee).
