Amazing cenote, but disappointing cost of photos! - We arrived at Rio Secreto and needed to register. Our tour guide was Pepe, and both the guide and the tour were fantastic! The tour started with a single gear bicycle ride to the zip lines followed by a single 30 foot repel into a dry cenote. We rode back and changed for the underground cenote tour, and I won’t spoil anything as you need to experience it, as it was amazing! This is a must do while in the PDC area.
After the cenote we changed and left via the van to the buffet restaurant and arrived at 4:30PM. We were the last group to arrive and had a Miel shooter with our tour guide. We were shown our photos and all of us were shocked to find out, that they wanted $135 USD from each of us for the photos. However, the one guy said they were willing to do a single photo for $35 USD, how kind were they? Anyway, I ended up chuckling on the way to the buffet, which was also disappointing. I had just enough food to satisfy the hunger, as the buffet at the resort I was staying at has incredible food!
So even though the buffet and the cost of photos were disappointing, I would still recommend the Rio Secreto experience, because the cenote was amazing!!

A Wonderful Day in Rio Secreto - We loved doing the Rio Secreto Plus Tour -- which includes a bike ride through the jungle, a morning snack, 3 different zip lines, rapelling into a small cenote, buffet lunch, and of course the signature event: Guided tour of the famous underground river & cave cenote. Rio Secreto provides transportation (if you need it) from as far away as Cancun, along with everything else you need to help you have a great day (lockers, wet suit, PFD, water shoes, helmet with built-in headlamp, even towels!). Our guide, Victor, was excellent. Highly recommended!

A must do during your trip to Mexico! - Undoubtedly an activity to do during your trip to Mexico! We were impressed by the fact that although it is a tourist activity, everything is organized so that it is not crowded and that the group we are with is alone at each activity. In the cave, we met a group that came out when we arrived, but inside, nobody. This allows you to really admire the place and fully enjoy the moment in this enchanting place. Our Memo guide was fantastic and respectful of everyone's pace. The bike, rappel and zip line part is a nice addition and is really accessible. Nothing too strong as a sensation, just enough! I've seen a lot of comments about the photos. It is true that they take a lot during the visit and that the price afterwards is high to buy them (125 USD for the whole). On the other hand, in my opinion, it is worth providing this amount, because these are great memories and it is true that if everyone could bring their cell phone it would change the dynamics of the activity in a negative way. In short, a must to do! I highly recommend!

Views and science LOVED it! - We did this while waiting for our flight to leave. I wish we could have done another tour! I loved this and would go back and check out the other caves. We did Enchanto. 2 adults and one 17 year old boy. Informational and cool to see!

Highly recommended! - Excellent tour for family and teenagers. We did the biking, zip line, rappelling, and cave tour. It was fun and exciting! Definitely need water shoes. I also recommend wet suit since the water in the cave was a bit chilly. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Buffet lunch was just ok, nothing fancy but good. Photos are expensive, $30 for 1 photo or $155 for the entire package.

Good tour. The best part is the caves! - We did the combo tour. The zip line, bicycle, and repelling were fun but nothing special. The Cave tour is great! My only suggestion would be to get bicycles with a lower gear ratio so they're easier to peddle. Several people in our group had to walk their bikes.

Good, suits adventurous people - Very nice experience, definitely for more adventurous people. Our tour was amazing beginning to end. Only issue we had was that we got hungry half way through it. And the photos were also pretty expensive.

Photos robbery - The site is great although you have to go 7 km in a dirty road and back (they give the shuttle)
They don’t allow using cameras or phones to the tour, and their photographer accompanying the group
He takes professional photos, but at the end of the tour they give you the option to purchase your photos: 120 usd for a couple, 135 usd for a family with kids
I had a feeling of a robbery, and so told me other tourists
I must say that the guide Aaron was excellent!

Don’t do it - **Disappointing and not worth the hype**
While the caves at Río Secreto are undeniably beautiful, the overall experience was disappointing and not something I’d do again.
There was *a lot* of unnecessary walking over unbalanced paths and rocks, along with pointless climbing—often when there was a perfectly clear, safe path right next to it. It felt more difficult than it needed to be, especially for what is marketed as a guided nature experience.
The caves themselves were beautiful, but honestly, it was very much a “one and done.” What made the experience worse was being told we were **not allowed to bring cameras or iPhones**. Instead, they have their own photographer follow you the entire time and then attempt to sell you photos afterward—for **$30 per photo**, emailed to you, not even a hard copy. Completely overpriced.
The meal afterward was awful—food I honestly wouldn’t even serve my dogs.
To top it off, when we returned to the restaurant area where they show your photos on their computers, I was **falsely accused** of taking a picture of the computer screen with my phone. I absolutely did not do this. I showed the employee my phone to prove there were no photos, but she continued insisting that I had taken one and demanded I pay $30 for a photo anyway. The woman was extremely rude and obnoxious.
Being in a different country, I felt intimidated and pressured, so I paid the $30 just to avoid further confrontation—but the entire situation was unacceptable and left a very bad impression.
Overall, beautiful caves, but the experience is over-commercialized, poorly handled, and not worth the cost or hassle. I would not recommend!
