Fantastic private van tour in Cozumel - This was a family tour for us. Jerry met us just outside the pier at the end of the covered area past the taxi lines. He was wearing a yellow cap as expected. He introduced himself to all of us, then told us where to go so he could get his van and pick us up. Next thing we knew, we were off for a drive around the city to see the sights, monuments, etc. The van was roomy for us 7. There were 4 seats we didn’t even use. He let us hop out of the van at a Catholic Church to appreciate it more closely, about 10 minutes. He offered to let us out at several monuments, but the wind was cold and very strong, so we took pics from the windows of the comfortable van instead. He described the history of the island and many interesting facts and stories. First stop was the chocolate factory. The best part was the tastings. We tasted various types of chocolate for a full 20 minutes. The staff were kind and personable. This stop was included in our price for the van tour. We opted out of the tequila factory, that price was included in our tour price, and asked him what other options we had. Originally we had planned to go to the lighthouse or the ruins, with a beach stop and maybe snorkeling after that. But the weather was rough, beaches were closed, very cold wind. Jerry had watched my mother hobble around with her arthritis and told us she wouldn’t tolerate the walking and standing at the ruins. The lighthouse was $20/person and with 6 ships in port, the line to climb it would take us the rest of the day. He mentioned the bee sanctuary, we hadn’t heard of it, and that he believed Mom could tolerate the walk there. He let us know the ticket was $11/person, called ahead and reserved us a guided tour. They were ready for us when we arrived. It was the most interesting and beautiful place. The sanctuary was protected from the wind. It had beautiful tropical flowers because the bees feed from those. Our guide was thorough, friendly and interesting. We enjoyed it immensely. There were even jewelers there with a small shop selling handcrafted jewelry at very reasonable prices. Then Jerry offered to drive us around the rest of the island and find a place on the way for a rest stop and cold beverages. We stopped several times to take pictures at scenic places. The waves were huge! He told us all about the areas of the island we drove past. We stopped at a cute little beach bar, ordered cold drinks, and had a restroom available. We were able to wade in the shallow water. It was calm due to a jetty protecting the beach there. He then took us back to our pier. It was a 5 hour tour that flew by. The whole family, from our 80 year old parents to our 11 year old niece, enjoyed ourselves immensely. We learned many new things, saw beautiful sites, and were completely comfortable along the way. 10/10. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our tour - Gerry was an amazing guy! He was known by everyone! Took us to the chocolate and tequila tours and to the San Gervasio ruins which we really enjoyed! Asked to grab yummy tacos at a place he would take his family and they were delicious. He joined us for lunch which was extra nice! He then drove us around looking at the different beach areas. Stopped for a drink and got the best mojitos sleeve ever had! It was a great tour to get an idea of what Cozumel has to offer and what we’d like to do on our next trip. Thanks Gerry for a great day with you.

A perfect day in Cozumel - We had the perfect day with Roger on our private tour. Roger showed us around San Miguel and took us to a family run chocolate factory where we had a private demonstration of how to make chocolate. We never realized how much work it takes to make homemade chocolate. We stopped at a tequila factory where we learned about the process of making tequila and some free tasting. After we drove to the opposite side of the island from where the cruise ships dock and saw some beautiful beaches and stopped for a drink and some snacks at Coconuts, before our return back to the ship. Arrived at Puerta Maya with enough time to do some shopping. It really was a perfect day with Roger being our driver/guide. Roger knew a lot of history and we enjoyed learning about Cozumel and the surroundings.

Best tour with best guide Sergio - Our private tour with Sergio was excellent. Sergio showed us the best of the island. We walked the town plaza and he helped me negotiate the price of a purchase. We went to the chocolate factory for a tour and tasting. My husband really enjoyed the tequila tasting .we also went to the east side of the island which had a big waves for great pictures. Sergio arranged for us to have a beach break and lunch before returning to the cruise port. We highly recommend a private tour with Sergio.

Blast of a day with Jerry! - The best part of the cruise was the day with Jerry driving us around Cozumel. There were 8 of us in the van. He was flexible, wanted us to enjoy our trip, provided an education on Cozumel, had great suggestions, and was the sweetest person. It was truly a pleasure. I cannot recommend this private tour enough. We will definitely do this again.

Great family day in Cozumel - Sergio made our day a great one. We are a family of six. Sergio was very polite, professional and was able to take care of us. We visited the ruins with a professional guide, Ivan; again a very insightful and educational experience. Sergio was able to find a nice beach for play time, food and drinks. We highly recommend taking a tour with Sergio. Thank you.

Your Private Vehicle is a Public Taxi -- PLEASE READ - Overall this excursion was good, but it's not for everyone. Here are the things you need to know. 1. When booking you get name of the driver you'll be meeting. When you arrive, it could be any one of the public taxi drivers at the taxi stand. Not a private vehicle. I was fine with it, but it might make some a little nervous 2. Our driver was nice, and knew some things about Cozumel as he was clearly a native. However, he spoke very little english. It was more like talking to a NYC taxi driver who knew all the island gossip. Not so much history, but he was nice and I speak spanish. 3. The tequila tasting was just a local distillery that has public tours. A quick google search revealed that you are getting no advantage for buying their mediocre tequila there. Same with the Chocolate tasting. Very touristy and contrived. Not the greatest neighborhood either, but, again, I was fine with it. 4. San Gervasio ruins were actually interesting because we paid for a private guide. I really wish I could remember his name. He was very young, with glasses. Also a cozumel native. Super knowlegeable about regional and Mayan cultural history. Overall, I'd say this was just ok. You might have more fun going to one of the many great beach clubs. You could snorkel, maybe seadoo, have some food and cocktails. I'd pass on this one.
