Kayak Trip - Our tour guide Abraham gave us a first rate kayak experience. We saw many different species of birds including Osprey and Herons, crocodiles, and fish. And to finish we saw the island sunset.

Great tour with Jonny! - We had a great tour in the mangroves at sunrise with Jonny. We booked the day before and in the end it was just us - a private tour! We saw flamingos at sunrise - don’t go in the afternoon as they usually have all gone by then. Jonny knew a lot about the birds and he even gave advice to another guide with a different company who we saw touching and hurting a crab. He was polite but firm and the other guide thanked him for the advice. He explained to us that the best thing is not to touch the animals at all - totally agree! We booked with Arial who gave us lots of information about different options and we were happy overall with our choice.

Mandatory for anyone passing through Holbox Island! TOP - Hotel pick-up and drop-off via Golf Cart, which is already a lot of fun. Once we arrived at Playa Moschito, the kayak excursion started (it was just us so it became a private tour) with our guide Abram. Truly magnificent sunrise tour throughout: incredible atmosphere immersed in nature, animals encountered and skill of the guide Abram! I would go back tomorrow! Mandatory stop for anyone passing through the island of Holbox!

Amazing sunsrise tour with flamingos and crocodiles! - The tour was incredible! Jonatan picked us up at the hostel and brought us to Punta Mosquito, where the kayaks were waiting for us. Normally, I am not a morning person, but waking up for the sunrise was so worth it! There was such a sense of tranquility, and we were even the first on the water, so felt like we were completely alone. The tour guide had such incredible knowledge about the wildlife and took us to spot flamingos, crocodiles and other birds. After a few hours of kayaking, we took a break, and were given snacks and water. We also got some beautiful pictures taken of us! The only thing worth mentioning, is that this tour requires a certain level of physical fitness. For active adventure seekers, this tour is an absolute must!

Seeing wildlife up close was great, Guide was very good. Getting there was much more strenuous than we planned. - We just completed the tour yesterday and we have some really good photos and learned a good amount while in the mangroves. The tour is a good one and if you go into with the right understanding, I think it can be great as the guide was knowledgeable and friendly. But we personally had some challenges with this one mostly due to not reading the fine print... As kayak owners and having taken many kayak tours in the past, we kind of glossed over the details when we were booking it the night before. We saw "relaxed paddle through the mangroves" "good for all ages" and in the What's Included section "snacks, water... beers"... We also had it in our head that the tour was only 2 hours (not sure where we got this idea), so a 4- 6 tour, we assumed was maybe 60-90 minutes on the water, relaxed and ... of course, beers. Spoiler alert - no beer. So, where we had a few challenges were in what we didn't read (that we later found when we looked at the details after we got back): 1) the suggestion that participants be physically fit -- we are in our fifties and haven't had any issues on paddles in the past, but the first 45 minutes of the paddle was in the ocean, against the current and into the wind, in order to get to the mouth of the river for the mangroves - not the "relaxed mangrove paddle" we were expecting. The kayaks are heavy and not particularly comfortable or easy to steer, which doesn't help when loaded down with two people. The guide was nice and stopped periodically so that we could catch up, and to his credit, he actually towed us back in at the end of the tour - which we appreciated and he did without hesitation and with a smile. 2) the tour is generally 3:15+ minutes (with a hotel pickup at 4:15)... If we had read that and done the math, we would have figured out that we were going through Punta Mosquito at dusk and in the dark, prime time for ...you guessed it, mosquitos, and paddling back in the dark. 3) Hotel PICK-UP is included. Hotel drop off is NOT included. There was some scrambling and offers from the team to "help us get closer" to where we were staying, but we opted to walk up the road, get a beer and catch a cab on our own. So, to summarize - great tour if you know what you are getting into, which is really why I wanted to leave a review to make sure that you read all of the fine print. The mangroves are great, we got lots of pictures and enjoyed learning ... given what you need to do to get there, i'd make sure that you are really up for the strenuous nature of it. And plan to find your way back thereafter. Big thank you to our guide and fellow tour goers for your help and patience. Pretty sore today but slept well.

Sunset paddling in the mangroves - We were lucky to see two crocodiles and a lot of birds. Our guide Sergio was very informative and had a lot of knowledge about the wildlife. We enjoyed a lot seeing the mangoves and paddling on the river in a very easy slow tempo. In the middle of the trip we took a break to strech the legs and enjoy the stillness. The only (big) downside was the kayaks, it was difficult to steer those things and they have extremely uncomfortable seats. I’m working as a kayak expedition guide myself and therefore can’t blame poor technique or bad sitting position. The kayaks are simply super uncomfortable even if you know what you are doing and you might end up getting back pain. But all the companies seem to use the same type of kayaks so there is no way around it if you want to go paddling.
