Insiders Guide to Akumal Art Scene - Having been to the Riviera Maya on many trips in the past, we were looking for a new adventure that was more authentic and less of a amusement park. This trip seem to fit our desire to see more of the local community.
We enjoyed our art walking tour with Mike as our guide. His insight into the artists and the myriad of murals throughout the town was amazing. It gave us a deep appreciation of both the artists who have come to Akumal from around the world and the meaning behind many of the 300 murals throughout the town.
The tour also gave us a glimpse into the lives of the local residence. Mike provided recommendations To numerous authentic Taquerias and restaurants in the town and tips for enjoying Akumal.
I highly recommend this tour for those looking for an experience other than the mass tourism trips.

Great walk to experience art and culture - Mike was a great host/tour guide! ... He had very interesting info on the art/murals; as well as of the artists! It was a great walk through town of Akumel to experience the unique wall art/murals and the culture of the area!!
