Excellent tour for families with children - Excellent tour for families and children. Two hours of great flora, fauna and adventure. We saw boas, velvets, sloth bears, white monkeys and many birds. Felipe, our guide has a lot of knowledge and patience. During the journey, the captain and guide stop the boat at strategic points to see all kinds of animals. It is safe, entertaining and very educational. I recommend it in closed eyes...

Longer ride more animal life than kayaking - Mangrove tour was a few miles of boat ride around the Damas island which appeared very natural and undisturbed. Our trip was narrated by Crazy Alex an interesting guide for sure. He kicked it off right away making bird sounds and calling monkeys by various names he had given. We saw Sloths, venomous snakes, iguanas, Jesus lizards, birds and monkeys during our 2 hour trip. The entire trip was so relaxing and never felt hurried. Alex and the boat captain stopped the boat and even went back and forth a times to watch the animals quite close or to feed the monkeys when they spotted them afar. They definitely gave their best to ensure we get to see everything the mangrove had to offer. Definitely recommend this boat tour if you are in the area to watch animal life. Skip it if you want an adrenaline rush. Kayaking tours also use the same isle location for their mangrove tours though they only go for a short distance. If you are debating between kayak trip and boat tour, I would recommend the boat trip as it covers a longer distance and more opportunities to spot animal life.

With girlfriends a boat trip through the mangroves - We booked the boat trip the day before. We got a good route description and when we got there we only had to wait a short time and we set off. ‘Crazy Alex’ as he called himself told us enthusiastically about the mangroves and his animals. He made a lot of noises himself. As a result, the monkeys came to visit us in the boat and a large kiskadie flew with us. All in all it was a nice trip.

Tour was very disappointing, guide was not motivated. - The boat trip took to be precise 1 hour and 15 min. No 2-3 hours as it is said when booking the tour. Our guide was chatting a lot with his colleague who was driving the boat. In between he had time to show us some animals, but it didn't feel like he was very involved. He was loud and busy. At Tortuguero we had a similar tour, where our guide was motivated. Very unfortunate, if we had known this we would never have booked the tour. Certainly not worthy of price / quality.

Beautiful experience with room for improvement - We experienced the mangrove tour with mixed feelings. Unfortunately, the organization of the bookings did not seem to be really under control. Just like three other guests, we had reserved the tour for 10:00. On site, however, we were informed that no boat was available and the boatmaster was not yet present. So we shouldn't be back until 11:00. Since there were hardly any opportunities in the area to bridge the waiting time meaningfully, we had to stay on site – which of course did not improve the mood of our 5-year-old son. Unfortunately, there was no explanation or excuse for the delay.
In addition, it was very confusing at this jetty, as many different providers start there. It was therefore initially difficult for us to see which group we belonged to.
The tour itself was interesting, though, and the guide was friendly. He told us some exciting information about the mangroves and the wildlife living there. For our son, the highlight was definitely that the capuchin monkeys came very close to the boat – some even directly onto the boat. Feeding seems to be banned by now; in older photos we had seen that it was probably different in the past.
Overall an interesting tour, but with significant room for improvement in the organization.
