Great fun, and we learned things! - We had a fantastic time. Memo was our guide and he did a great job finding and pointing out wildlife and teaching us about the importance of the mangroves and the biodiversity for the ecological well-being of Costa Rica.

Memo found all the animals! - Memo was fabulous!! We ended up getting a very personalized tour during the green season. We saw a sloth, bats, snakes, crocodiles, an anteater and lots of lizards and birds! The company is committed to preservation and education, and we learned so many new facts about Costa Rica. This is a must do excursion! Do the kayak to get up close and personal with the animals and ask for Memo!

Tranquil, Peaceful, Fascinating - I think the mangrove kayak tour was my favorite thing we did our entire trip to Costa Rica. My husband and I originally signed up for the boat tour, but because we were the only two people there for the 7:30am slot, our host/guide Memo convinced us to go for the kayaks instead. (Not that it took much convincing! All he had to say was "Don't you want to experience this without the sound of a motor?") We're so glad we did -- kayaking through the mangroves was such a tranquil experience. Memo was an incredible guide. He is SO passionate and knowledgeable about Costa Rica's ecosystem and history, and we learned a ton; not just on the kayak tour itself, but also as we walked around the farm grounds (and yes, got to meet/take a ride on the water buffalo). Memo is also super fun and easy to hang out with, so it was a wonderful way to spend a sunny morning. I really value the way Nacarcosta runs their business, in that they do their best not to disturb the natural order of things (ie, they don't try to get the monkeys to engage with you or jump in your boat -- because that's not what monkeys should be doing!). All that said, we still got to take in plenty of sights and sounds; we saw bats, monkeys, lizards, all kinds of birds, crabs, snakes, and more. There was a crocodile, but we missed spotting it by millisecond, but tbh I didn't mind missing that one. ;) Oh, and the fresh coconut water (literally -- straw in a coconut) and fruit at the end of the tour was delicious. There are also a couple of extremely sweet cats on the grounds (Otto and Ophelia), which just made my day as a Cat Lady. Thank you to Memo and the Nacarcosta team for such a great morning!

The guide makes the experience! - We had a great tour with guide Memo. His knowledge about the wildlife was superb. Very inspirational about the whole ecosystem and how everything is in some way connected to our world to make it a great habitat. Pura vida!

Highly recommended for wildlife lovers - We had so much fun! Our tour guide Andres was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the local ecosystem. We learned a ton, saw a bunch of different wildlife and had a blast. Appropriate activity for all levels. I was 6 months pregnant at the time and they adjusted speed for me.

We had an excellent kayak... - We had an excellent kayak tour. Our guide 'Johnny' was very knowledgeable and was excellent at spotting wildlife. We saw many monkeys, birds, baby crocodile and turtle. The river is a pleasant way to see things (assuming it is not the busy tourist season when things can get crowded). A good way to get outside and experience Costa Rica.

An excellent mangrove tour. - Maria gave us an excellent tour of the mangroves! While paddling a kayak, she told us about the wildlife there and often spotted creatures we would have missed ourselves. It was good to hear about the palm oil forests and see the bison too. Lunch was provided at the end. At all times, Maria kept us safe. Thank for such an enjoyable tour - it could not have been better.

Outstanding mangrove kayaking - I went on an excellent kayak tour of the mangroves at Nacarcosta. My guide Memo was superb at identifying wildlife while maintaining an appropriate distance--important for ethical eco-tourism. We saw capuchin monkeys, a sloth, basilisks (including seeing them running across water), iguanas, and spiders while learning about the importance of mangrove forests for tropical ecosystems. Highly recommend!
