The thrill of the unknown is what drives us, isn’t it? As a former extreme sports athlete, I’ve chased adrenaline across the globe, but the allure of Costa Rica’s Savegre River was irresistible. Nestled in the heart of the jungle, this river promised a blend of beauty and excitement that I couldn’t pass up. My fellow thrill-seekers and I were picked up from our hotel in Quepos, and the journey began. The drive was a bumpy ride through the rural towns of El Silencio and Santo Domingo, each turn revealing more of the lush, vibrant landscape. Our guide regaled us with tales of the region’s history, setting the stage for the adventure that awaited us.

Upon arrival, the team from Amigos del Río welcomed us with open arms. Their professionalism was evident from the start, as they provided a comprehensive safety briefing. Helmets and life vests were distributed, and we were taught the essentials of rafting. The anticipation was palpable as we approached the river, its waters glistening under the sun.
