Take the chance to scale Lion Mountain on an 8 km trek through the valley’s native flora. Lion Mountain, located in the South East of the island, promises astonishing views of the aqua lagoons, coastlines, and small islands.
Known as one of the mountains bordering the bay, it’s considered the only remaining evidence of the ‘Bataille Of Vieux Grand Port.’
On your journey through the forest, you’ll encounter a variety of plant species and lush greenery. The area is densely packed with native and exotic plants, and with a bit of luck, you may even see the uniquely local bird - the Mauritian Kestrel.
Upon reaching the peak, your efforts will be rewarded with phenomenal views of the bright-blue lagoons and surrounding islands. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical Paille en queue birds gliding overhead.
Post-hike, a lunch showcasing traditional Mauritian Cuisine awaits you in the village of Mahebourg.
