Highlights
  • Dendera Temple Complex - The Denderah Temple was built in the 1st century B.C by Ptolemy VIII and Queen Cleopatra II, and is one of the best-preserved Temples in all of Egypt. The temple is dedicated to Hathor, Goddess and mother of the Pharaohs, representing maternity, love, music and the celestial. The Goddess is mostly represented, with the horns of the sacred cow supporting the solar disc of the sun. In her hands she holds an “Ankh” (the symbol of life), and a scepter. You can visit the crypt, a great spot, for those who are not claustrophobic. 2 staircases lead to the roof, beautifully decorated with symbols of the 12 months of the year. In one of the rooftop chapels, you will find (a copy of) the famous Denderah Zodiac (the original rests in the Louvre in Paris). The temple has been recently restored and cleaned and will give you a feeling of walking through ancient history.

Full day tour - We have used EgBride several times for the transfer from Hurghada to Luxor (return) and have always found them to be reliable, with helpful and punctual drivers - and will continue to use them for this. However while in Luxor we decided to do this tour - again the driver was very punctual, and the English speaking guide was very knowledgable and informative - had a very enjoyable day

Wonderful Day Trip from Luxor - We organized this tour only the night before because we weren't sure what to do with our last day in Egypt, but it was no problem. There was no pressure or upselling. Everything was very up front and went smoothly the next morning. The travel agent in our hotel, Hassan was wonderful and walked us through all our options before deciding on this tour. He also went above and beyond to be friendly and help us during our stay, even going so far as to walk us back to the hotel when we ran into each other in town one evening. We were initially hesitant to go somewhere such a long drive away but it was worth it to see these amazing temples away from the crowds of Luxor and Giza. Dendera Temple especially was one of the most amazing temples we saw during our trip. Our guide Hadir was lovely and pointed out all the important carvings to us as we toured the temples, told us the stories behind the images and most importantly stopped several times for snacks and refreshments on the long drive! Along the way we drove through many smaller towns and a bustling local Souq; it was a nice treat to see a part of Egypt outside of the usual tourist trail. All together a very nice day out and would highly recommend.

Great day trip - Great day trip. We had a great day trip to the temples a bit further away from Luxor. Even the ride to the temples was interesting in a clean and comfortable minibus. Mohamed the guide knew everything about the temples and explained what they were for. I loved the roof of denderra most and the osiris tomb in abydos. Thanks Mohamed for a great day.
